KTM has unleashed the 990 RC R Track, a purpose-built supersport that favours outright lap times over everything else. It’s stripped off everything unnecessary: lights, mirrors, side stand – leaving behind a lean, mean machine focused only on performance.
At the core sits KTM’s proven 947cc LC8c parallel-twin, now tuned to deliver 135PS and 105Nm, giving it a slight edge over the ‘standard’ 990 RC R (127.84PS and 103Nm). The lightweight AkrapoviÄ exhaust not only enhances the soundtrack but also trims valuable kilos. KTM has also revised the gearbox ratios, with a longer first gear and shorter sixth gear to sharpen acceleration and improve the top-end.

By removing road hardware and simplifying the electricals – significant mass (14kg) has been shaved off, making the bike quicker to change direction and more responsive overall. Fully adjustable WP Apex suspension, Brembo Hypure calipers with 320mm front discs, and Michelin Power Slick tyres – complete the ready-to-race package. The Track weighs 181kg (wet) as compared to 195kg of the road bike.
The KTM 990 RC R Track is loaded with serious race electronics. Riders get three fully customisable track modes that allow fine adjustment of throttle response, traction control, wheel slip, anti-wheelie, launch control, and engine braking. A pit lane limiter, bi-directional quickshifter, and a crisp 4.2-inch TFT display with lap information ensure riders have all the information they need to perform at their best.

Aerodynamic elements inspired by KTM’s RC16 MotoGP machine give the Track version a more aggressive riding position and improved airflow management at high speed. The fairings have been intentionally left blank for custom race liveries. The taller windscreen helps riders tuck in tighter on the straights.
Priced at £15,599 (~Rs 19.20 Lakh), the 990 RC R Track represents a relatively accessible entry into factory-level track performance. Production runs begin in early 2026, with deliveries scheduled shortly after and it’s already sold out in the UK.
