Sometime back, we had brought news about Suzuki planning to launch the V-Strom 650XT in India in October 2018. And now, the Suzuki V-Strom 650XT is finally launched at Rs 7.46 lakh (ex-showroom). The on-road price goes to Rs 9,56,800 in Mumbai, which includes RTO registration charges and 5-year zero-dep insurance.

At this price point, the Suzuki V-Strom 650XT goes against the Kawasaki Versys 650, which is priced at Rs 6.69 lakh (ex-showroom).

Currently, dealerships have started accepting a booking amount of Rs 50,000 for the V-Strom 650XT, which is available in yellow and white colour for now.

On the design front, the V-Strom 650XT is a scaled down version of the V-Strom 1000. The beaked front with the vertically arranged headlight setup gets a manually adjustable visor. While the front gets most of the mass, the rear is kept relatively barebones for a minimalistic look. However, you do get mounting points for the panniers, which may come as optional accessories. Fuel tank capacity, at 20 litres, does justice to the adventure purpose of the motorcycle. This should give you plentiful range between fuel stops.

The instrument console is also quite informative, with two digital screens and an analogue tacho. Since the XT version is more off-road oriented, it gets 19-inch front and 17-inch rear aluminium rims with stainless steel wire spokes with tubeless Bridgestone Battlax Adventure tyres, knuckle guards and a belly pan. Suspension setup includes long-travel front 43mm telescopic forks with 150mm of travel and a rear monoshock that can be adjusted for preload. Braking is via Tokico 2-piston calipers at the front and a single Nissin disc at the rear. Electronic aids include a two-stage traction control system and ABS. Kerb weight, at 216kg, is 3 kg more than the standard version.

Power comes from a 645cc, liquid-cooled, four-stroke V-twin motor that makes 71PS at 8800rpm and 62.3Nm of torque at 6500rpm. Going by the prices, it seems like the bikes will come to India via the CKD route and possibly be assembled along with the GSX-S750 and the Hayabusa.
