The Aprilia SXR GT 175 has been launched in India at Rs 1,29,999 (ex-showroom). It gets a sporty maxi-scooter-like design, a 175cc engine, and more tech compared to the older SXR 160. After spending some time with the scooter, here are the top likes and dislikes:
3 Things We Liked
Sporty & stylish design

The Aprilia SXR GT 175 gets a sporty maxi-scooter-like design with a tall windshield, muscular bodywork, and split LED headlights with integrated LED DRLs. It is available in 3 colours: Metallic Blue, Matte Black, and Matte Green, with the Metallic Blue shade being the most premium-looking of them all.
Great in corners & stable on the highway

The SXR GT 175 rides on 14-inch wheels at both ends and gets a telescopic fork along with a monoshock. The bigger wheels give the scooter more confidence while tackling corners, and the scooter leans with very little effort, making it enjoyable to ride on twisty roads. The 14-inch wheels also help the scooter remain stable out on the highway at higher speeds.
Strong and predictable power delivery

The scooter gets an all-new 175cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine, which is also shared with the SR 175 hp.e. On the SXR GT, it produces 13.2 PS and 14.14 Nm, with a more linear and predictable power delivery compared to the SR 175. This makes the scooter easier for newer riders, while offering strong performance for everyday use and occasional highway duties.
Top 3 Dislikes
Firm suspension setup

The suspension setup feels stiff over potholes and sharp bumps, which affects the overall ride quality. However, riding with a pillion improves things slightly. Compared to the older SXR 160, the ride quality has improved, but we still feel Aprilia could have made the setup a bit softer for Indian roads.
Uncomfortable riding posture

The Aprilia SXR GT 175 gets a wide and spacious seat. However, the seat cushioning feels a bit firm, and it slopes forward. This causes the rider to constantly slide forward while braking, which can become irritating on longer rides. The compact floorboard also limits legroom, especially for taller riders.
Limited practicality for a maxi-scooter

Despite its large proportions, the SXR GT 175 has a small 20-litre underseat storage, which is the lowest in its segment. The compact floorboard also makes it less practical compared to its competitors.
ZigSays
The Aprilia SXR GT 175 has a sporty design, a punchy engine, and is quite enjoyable in the corners. However, if comfort and practicality are your main priorities, rivals like the Hero Xoom 160 could be a better option. Go for the SXR GT 175 if you prioritise performance and the bold appearance.
