Aprilia SR150 To Be Launched On August 22

Carrying an introductory price of Rs 65,000 (ex-showroom), bookings for the Aprilia SR150 have already started at Motoplex showrooms and Vespa dealerships across the country

Aprilia had unveiled the SR150 at the 2016 Auto Expo, its second scooter offering after the SRV850, for the Indian two-wheeler market. Now, it is being reported that the Italian motorcycle manufacturer will be launching the sports scooter on Aug 22. With booking already started, the SR150 will be available with an introductory price of Rs 65,000 (ex-showroom). It is the first product by Aprilia to be manufactured in India at parent company Piaggio’s production facility in Baramati.

The SR150 sports a European design language that is edgy and contemporary, making it a likeable offering among youngsters. Aprilia has equipped the SR150 with a twin-headlight unit embedded in the front apron while the indicators are mounted on the handlebar. It comes with a twin-pod instrument console which consists of the speedometer, fuel gauge and odometer, along with other tell-tale lights. Suspension duties are taken care of by telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear. The scooter stands on 14-inch wheels with 120/70 section tyres at both ends. Stopping power is achieved by a 220mm disc brake at the front and a 240mm drum brake at the rear.

The Aprilia SR150 draws its power from a 154.4cc air-cooled, single-cylinder motor which puts out 11.5PS at 7,000rpm and peak torque of 11.5Nm at 5,500rpm. The engine used in the SR150 is the same as the one seen on the Vespa 150 currently sold in India. Power is transmitted to the rear wheel via a CVT transmission. The sports scooter comes with a fuel tank capacity of 6 litres.

The SR150 will be sold via official multi-brand Motoplex showrooms and Vespa dealerships across India.
