We expect the next batch of TVS RP bikes to be released shortly

It has hardly been over a week since TVS announced its first product from its new performance division ‘Race Performance.’ The Apache RTR 165 RP promises to be a power-packed 160cc motorcycle, with nearly as much performance capabilities on hand as a 200cc bike. However, if you want to buy it in 2022, we have some sad news for you -- all 200 units have been sold out!

Yes, TVS has found 200 buyers willing to pay Rs 1.45 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) for the near-homologation special RTR 165 RP. And it is a pretty sweet deal as you not only get the most potent 160cc air-cooled bike in the country, but it is also more powerful than the Yamaha R15 V4. The engine updates comprise a larger piston, high lift cams, larger intake, bigger valves, and a slipper clutch.

There’s also the stunning TVS Racing livery and red wheels, which on the RTR 165 RP look smashing and not flashy like the RR 310 BTO. The bikemaker has also thrown in the brass-coated chain and sprocket from the RR 310 BTO, span-adjustable levers from the RTR 160 4V Special Edition, and a larger 240mm rear disc.

TVS plans to make more of these RP models in the future. These bikes will be made in limited quantities and be quite different from the BTO lineup, where you can customise and enhance specific areas of the motorcycle to your taste.

The RP series will likely spawn road-going versions of TVS’ race bikes, and we hope to see the RR 310 given the same treatment. The national championship version of the RR 310 puts out around 45PS, which is significantly higher than the stock bike. Even if TVS manages to eke out 40PS for the RP variant, we would be super glad.
