The TVS Apache range has been synonymous with peppy performance and sporty looks since its launch back in 2005. To celebrate its 20th Anniversary, TVS Motor Company has launched new top-spec variants of the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V and TVS Apache RTR 200 4V. Apart from this, the whole Apache range gets new ‘20th Anniversary Celebratory Edition’ variants.

New Top-end Variants

The primary update on the new variants of the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V and RTR 160 4V is the new fascia. There’s a new projector LED headlight with slatted LED DRLs under it. This gives the bikes a more aggressive and sharp-looking front end. However, the lower variants of these bikes still continue to get the older headlight setup. The rest of the styling remains the same for all the variants.

On the features front, the new variants get a 5-inch TFT display (same as the RTR 310) with smartphone connectivity and a traction control system. The 160 now also gets an assist and slipper clutch, which the 200 already had. This should help make clutch lever operation a bit less fatiguing – not that the 160 had a heavy clutch lever feel to begin with. These features are above the already standard features like the 3 riding modes, dual-channel ABS, and voice assist via smartphone app.

Both the bikes also get new colours. The TVS Apache RTR 200 4V is now available in two new colours: Matte Black and Granite Grey. The TVS Apache RTR 160 4V is now available in three new colour schemes: Racing Red, Marine Blue, and Matte Black.

20th Anniversary Celebratory Editions

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the TVS Apache, the brand has launched a special variant of all the bikes in the Apache range. The list includes the TVS Apache RTR 160 2V, 160 4V, 180, 200 4V, RR310, and RTR310. The special edition bikes get a black-champagne gold livery with a 20-year logo on the fuel tank. The bikes are covered in golden graphic schemes that compliment the black base coat well. Along with the body panels, the alloy wheels of the special edition are finished in a dual-tone shade with half of the rim covered in black, while the other half is golden coloured. Also, the special editions of the TVS Apache 160 2V, 160 4V and 180 get a USB charging port as standard.

The updates on all the bikes – whether features or just visuals – have given them a fresh look. The TVS Apaches were two of the earliest bikes in India to go beyond the then commuter-biased segment and offer affordable performance for the motorcycling enthusiasts. TVS has come a long way since they launched the Apache 160 and 180 back in circa 2005. While these 2 models are still on sale, albeit updated to keep in tune with the times, the Apache enthusiasts also have bikes in the more powerful segment. It's good to see that TVS has not neglected any of the Apache models and has listened to what its customers want from their bikes, time and again.
