New Deluxe variant gets a handful of updates, including an LED taillight

The year’s off to an excellent start for Yamaha fans with the launch of a new range-topping variant of the FZ-S FI. The new Yamaha FZ-S DLX has been priced at Rs 1,18,900 (ex-showroom Delhi), a premium of Rs 3,000 over the standard FZ-S FI and features a bunch of updates unique to this variant.

Yamaha has equipped the DLX variant with a new LED tail light, coloured alloy wheels, dual-tone seats, and LED indicators. While the LED taillight is a new addition, the LED blinkers are the ones from Yamaha’s range of accessories, priced at Rs 1490 for a pair.

The Yamaha FZ-S DLX features new Metallic Black, Metallic Grey and Majesty Red paint schemes, with new livery. While the black and the red colours come with golden alloy wheels, the grey has been paired with blue rims, similar to what Yamaha offers on the bigger MT bikes.

The Deluxe variant also comes with Yamaha’s ConnectX Bluetooth connectivity, which is a basic connectivity module void of call/sms alerts or navigation.

The Yamaha FZ-S DLX continues with the same 149cc engine making 12.4PS and 13.3Nm– the smallest and one of the least powerful amongst its competitors -- Bajaj Pulsar NS 160, TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, Hero Xtreme 160R, Suzuki Gixxer and the Honda XBlade. While the FZ has been raking in good sales consistently, the bike is in dire need of some substantial updates to keep up with the competition.
