Hero MotoCorp recently unveiled the Xpulse 150 at EICMA 2026, introducing the smallest member of its adventure motorcycle family. While the new entry-level ADV looks promising, it is unlikely to make its way to India anytime soon. Here’s why we think Hero will keep this baby Xpulse limited to international markets.

The biggest reason is that Hero already has a fairly sorted Xpulse lineup in India. The range currently consists of the Xpulse 200 and Xpulse 210, while the much-anticipated Xpulse 450 is also expected to arrive next year. Adding another entry-level model could make the lineup unnecessarily crowded, especially when the existing motorcycles already cater to different budgets and riding requirements.

The Xpulse 150’s specifications also do not make a particularly strong case for the Indian market. It is powered by a 150 cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine producing 12.37 PS and 12.8 Nm. While these figures might be adequate for its intended markets, they are unlikely to impress Indian motorcycle enthusiasts who expect stronger performance even from relatively affordable adventure bikes. Fun Fact: these figures are even lower than what the older Hero Impulse 150 used to produce. In fact, even the Xpulse 200 4V is the least powerful 200 cc motorcycle in India by specifications. However, its popularity comes from much more than outright performance. Its capable off-road hardware, long-travel suspension, comfortable ergonomics and overall trail-riding abilities have made it a popular choice among Indian adventure enthusiasts. The Xpulse 150, on the other hand, does not appear to offer a significant enough performance or hardware advantage to justify its positioning here.

Another important detail is that the Xpulse 150 gets a carburetted engine. At a time when the Indian two-wheeler market has entirely moved towards fuel injection, this setup strongly suggests that the motorcycle has been developed primarily for export markets. Hero is likely targeting regions such as Africa and Latin America, where an affordable, simple and easy-to-maintain adventure motorcycle could make more sense. Its modest performance and relatively uncomplicated mechanical package also suit this purpose.
The Hero Xpulse 150 looks quite nice and could be an interesting entry-level trail bike for international markets. Its 19-inch front wheel, 17-inch rear wheel, 220 mm ground clearance and tall riding stance give it the right adventure motorcycle proportions. However, for India, the Xpulse 200 4V and Xpulse 210 already offer more capable packages, with the Xpulse 450 set to expand the family further next year. Considering its modest specifications and carburetted engine, the Xpulse 150 is unlikely to arrive in India anytime soon.
