Quick Highlights:
Gets an all-new single-cylinder engine, with displacement yet to be revealed
Features KYB suspension and 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wire-spoke wheels
Production plans and launch timeline unconfirmed
Yamaha has unveiled the Tenere 4 Concept, a new adventure bike that could become the Japanese manufacturer's entry into the booming 400-500cc ADV segment. The motorcycle has made its debut at EICMA 2026 and it will be positioned below the Tenere 700. Here’s all you need to know about it:
The Tenere 4 Concept is powered by a newly developed single-cylinder engine. Yamaha has not disclosed its displacement, power output or torque figures yet. However, the A2 classification hints that the motorcycle could be equipped with an engine in the 400cc category.

Yamaha says the engine has been designed to deliver strong low- and mid-range torque, while offering sufficient performance at higher revs. This should make it versatile enough for daily commutes as well as extended adventure touring.
If the concept eventually reaches production, it could offer riders a more accessible alternative to the larger and the legendary Tenere 700.
The Tenere 4 Concept features a completely new lightweight chassis, paired with KYB suspension at both ends. It rides on a 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wire-spoke wheel setup, shod with Michelin Anakee Wild tyres.
This combination indicates that Yamaha is aiming to build a motorcycle capable of tackling challenging off-road terrain, rather than simply offering adventure styling.
The concept also gets a compact titanium Akrapovic exhaust, which adds to its rally-inspired appeal. Whether this component will be retained on the production-spec motorcycle remains to be seen.

The Yamaha Tenere 4 Concept is still in its early stages, and the manufacturer has not confirmed whether it will enter production. There is also no information regarding its expected launch timeline or pricing.
That said, a smaller Tenere could make Yamaha's adventure motorcycle range more accessible to a wider audience. If it gets the green light for production, the Tenere 4 could take on other lightweight adventure motorcycles such as the KTM 390 Adventure R and the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450. While we don't get the larger Tenere 700 in India, we do hope Yamaha brings this one to our shores.
