Ather Energy is all set to reveal its first electric scooter built on the all-new EL platform at its fourth Community Day event. This new model is expected to be priced from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1.25 lakh (ex-showroom), marking a strategic push into the high-volume scooter market. The move will see Ather expand its reach significantly beyond its established performance-oriented 450 series and the more family-focused Rizta, which currently comprise nine variants in total.

The new EL platform is the brand’s first all-new vehicle architecture since the original 450 series. According to Ather Energy, this platform has been engineered for greater versatility, scalability, and manufacturing efficiency. This platform-first approach is crucial for entering the mass market. Instead of adapting an existing premium product, Ather has developed a new foundation designed from the ground up for cost-effective production and the ability to underpin a wider portfolio of future products across different segments. This signals a long-term strategy focused on volume.

The company has explicitly stated the first scooter from this platform will target the Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1.25 lakh (ex-showroom) price segment. This price band is the heart of the Indian scooter market, a space Ather has previously not competed in. By entering this segment, Ather is directly challenging established players and significantly expanding its addressable market. The brand’s overall goal here is to move from a premium, niche player to a mainstream electric vehicle manufacturer.

The unveiling is scheduled for Ather Community Day 2026. Within these years, this event has grown into a major fixture, with the 2025 edition attracting more than 4,000 attendees. The choice of venue indicates the launch is about more than just the scooter. Ather has confirmed the event will also showcase innovations in its technology, charging infrastructure, and ownership ecosystem. This follows the 2025 event, which featured the EL platform's initial unveiling, the Redux concept vehicle, and next-generation fast-charging technology.

For prospective buyers, the EL platform's focus on scalability and efficiency hints at more accessible and varied Ather products in the future. The strategy leverages Ather's established ecosystem, including the Ather Grid, which is India's widest two-wheeler fast-charging network. This new scooter is not just a standalone product but an entry point into a connected ecosystem. The company, founded in 2013, holds a substantial intellectual property portfolio with 52 registered patents, suggesting the technology in its mass-market offerings will be a key differentiator.
