Ather has finally revealed the name of its upcoming affordable electric scooter ahead of its debut at Ather Community Day on August 29. The new scooter will be called the Ather Konarc and will be the first model based on the brand's all-new EL01 platform.
The Ather Konarc will be positioned as the brand's more affordable electric scooter, sitting below the 450 range. While Ather is yet to reveal the complete specifications, the production line images which Ather’s CEO recently posted give us a few clues.
The scooter appears to get a conventional telescopic fork at the front and a monoshock at the rear. It will be underpinned by the new EL01 platform, which has been developed to support battery packs ranging from 2kWh to 5kWh. Power is expected to come from a motor similar to the one used in the Ather 450 series, although it is likely to be tuned for smoother, more commuter-friendly performance.

Feature-wise, the Konarc is expected to be quite well equipped despite its affordable positioning. It is likely to get a TFT instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity for turn-by-turn navigation and call/SMS alerts.
The scooter is also expected to run AtherStack 7, bringing features such as voice commands, pothole alerts and crash detection. Convenience features like hill hold assist and reverse mode are also expected to be on offer.
One of the biggest highlights could be Ather's Advanced Electrical Braking System (AEBS), which intelligently blends regenerative braking with the conventional braking system to improve braking performance while also maximising energy recovery.

We expect the Ather Konarc to be priced between Rs 1 lakh and Rs 1.25 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, it will take on other value-focused electric scooters such as the TVS Orbiter, Bajaj Chetak C2501 and Vida VX2.
With Ather Community Day just around the corner, we won't have to wait long to find out whether the Konarc can bring the brand's premium experience to a more accessible price point.
