Bajaj has recently downsized its biggest Pulsar yet, and we recently got the opportunity to ride the 350cc Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z. Here is what we liked and what we didn't:
Likes
1. Exciting Performance

Yes, the Pulsar now has a smaller 349.13cc engine, and the power loss is evident at 40.6 PS and 33.2 Nm (0.6 PS more & 1.8 Nm less than before). Sure, you have to rev the bike more to extract power and overtake, but the engine is more way more refined than before. It still packs a punch and has way less vibrations at highway speeds.
2. Improved Hardware

For a sub-Rs 2 lakh price tag, the Pulsar gets decent hardware. It gets sintered brake pads, which have improved braking confidence.
The wheels are now wrapped with sticker rubber Apollo Alpha H1 tyres, which inspires confidence and supports the sporty nature of the motorcycle.
3. Feature-Packed

Loaded with features, the motorcycle offers four riding modes: Rain, Road, Sport, and Off-Road. It gets a bi-directional quickshifter for seamless gear shifts and a digital console with smartphone connectivity. Safety features include dual-channel ABS and traction control, both switchable.
Dislikes
1. Cluttered Display

It gets the same console as the 350cc Bajaj Dominar 400, and the display is very cluttered. Sure, it does offer a lot of information at a glance, but while riding, you will have to take your eyes off the road for quite some time to see the information that you actually want to read.
2. Stiff Suspension

The bike gets a stiff rear suspension which is good when you are riding on smooth tarmac and hitting the twists. But on our typical Indian roads, the firm setup will punish your back. One has to slow down the bike considerably while going over bumps and potholes, hampering the riding experience.
