Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 Spotted At Dealership Ahead Of Launch

It’s no secret that Royal Enfield is going to launch the Himalayan 440 on September 4, 2026, but before its official launch, we’ve now received a glimpse of the bike at a dealership. And while the new Himalayan 440 may look familiar at first glance, it gets a significant mechanical update underneath. Here’s what’s different:

New Console

One of the biggest visible changes is actually something that might leave Himalayan 411 fans divided, the instrument console.

The Himalayan 440 gets the same unit as the current Royal Enfield Scram 440, featuring an analogue speedometer with a digital inset displaying information such as the trip meter and other ride data. It is accompanied by a Tripper navigation pod on the right.

It’s certainly a functional setup and should offer all the information you need, but compared to the Himalayan 411’s quirky, airplane cockpit-style console, this one feels rather conventional.

What’s The Same?

The Himalayan 440 appears to retain quite a few familiar bits from the Himalayan 411 and Scram 440. The rear section features a simple LED taillight, bulb-type indicators, a neat rear fender and the same long exhaust.

It also gets spoke wheels with tubed CEAT Grip XL dual-purpose tyres. The setup will most likely feature a 21-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel, with 90-section and 120-section tyres respectively.

The tall windscreen, high-mounted handlebar, silver clutch and brake levers and round rear-view mirrors also continue the familiar Himalayan theme.

New Engine

The biggest change, however, is under the skin. As the name suggests, the Himalayan 440 will get a larger 440cc engine, which should offer a noticeable bump in performance over the old 411cc motor.

More importantly, the new motorcycle is expected to feature a 6-speed gearbox, giving it an additional ratio over the Himalayan 411. This should make it more relaxed at higher speeds while also giving the engine a wider spread of ratios for both road and trail riding.

The new Himalayan 440 seems to be taking a slightly different approach. While the larger 440cc engine and 6-speed gearbox will undoubtedly be welcome additions, fans of the OG Himalayan will surely miss that quirky, airplane cockpit-style console, because, let’s be honest, it did look pretty damn cool.

With an expected price of around Rs 2.50 lakh (ex-showroom), the Himalayan 440 will appeal to riders looking for a simpler, more old-school adventure motorcycle at an affordable price tag.
