• Q. Planning to buy a new SUV for family need and weekend trips , confused with petrol/diesel and which SUV. pls advice Key ask:1. spacious and comfortable 2. Modern features3. short (30 Km / day)and long distance(1000 km trip every quarter) travel (Min 3 and max 5 passengers in car - inc driver)4. can drive for at least 10-15 years. Cars shortlisted : Harrier (only diesel) , Hector (petrol/Diesel), Hector plus, new safari (again guess sonly diesel). upcoming I feel only XUV worth waiting but its 5-6 months away.also considering long term diesel plan in India (e.g. banning 10 yr + cars in Delhi), is it wise to buy a diesel for long term usage? I wanted to go for electric but it won't help my outstation drives :-(please advise which is best car for long term usage with above needs). Thanks !

If you drive less then 50km in a day then we recommend you to go with a petrol car as they are easy to maintain, have a longer life span and they cost less initially then the diesel car. On the other hand, diesel cars are preferred if the average daily run is more than 50km which makes it a feasible purchase. Diesel cars are more fuel-efficient and provide more torque, therefore, are preferred for a person who drives more than 50km. Whereas, the petrol engine has a low service cost, more life span, generally have a well-controlled NVH level and are cheaper in cost than the diesel engines. We'd suggest you go for Hector because of the extensive feature list, better fuel efficiency and a spacious cabin then the MG Hector would be a better pick. The updates add more value to what was already a feature-packed package and should make the buying decision easier for most. You may also consider Hyundai Creta as it is clearly an impressive compact SUV. It is spacious, comfortable, loaded with features, easy to drive and offered with powerful petrol and diesel engine options. It is hard to fault the Hyundai Creta and it comes across as a well-rounded product. Do take a test drive in order to get better clarity. Follow the given link and select your respective city.
