Q. Is the low ground clearance of Skoda Octavia a genuine problem on Indian roads. I mostly drive in the city but do come across huge speed bumps that are not properly designed.
  • On huge speed bumps you do have to maneuver the car a little bit to avoid any contact with the road, but this is specific only to huge speed bumps, otherwise it's not that much of a problem
  • No problem with ground clearence as i have 2015 skoda Octavia and last year visited badrinath temple in uttarakhand and Octavia never touched any stone with 4 persons in the car
  • Is Octavia fine with the 155 clearance on spread breaker.Secondly what about water logging problem ?

Q. Is it worth buying Octavia 1.4 TSI and what is the maintenance cost?
  • Octavia is a very good car no doubt... But if you are someone who loves driving than 1.8tsi is the best in the segment and the DSG AT is another advantage. If you are planning to buy, I guess the new model is on its way and might come in the market by next year
  • New model out...tsi dsg is a gem there are worries if long term issue with the dual clutch but not proven...so buy it ..you cant see the variant in its twin.

Q. How is the after sales service of skoda.. planning on buying one but all i hear is they had a bad past and still not great with service?? any inputs if they have improved cause its an expensive vehicle to buy and dont want headaches after spending this kind of money. - Octavia?
  • Aftersale is not that good. take an extended warranty.most of the parts are tested in cold conditions so replacement may be there. There are other service centres you can opt for one.Be aware of the problems give car for routine check ups it will be fine.
  • After the warranty period, it's better to get it serviced at any good Bosch authorised service centres or with Pitstop services, if available in your city. These authorised Skoda centres still fleece you!
  • Not that good

bought this Skoda's Octavia onyx in 2017 and will say apart from fuel economy, everything is just excellent, am not going by the service part as we all know it's rediculous, but by far the build quality, the power delivery, the electronic gizmos go they are pretty good, I have ridden it in all kinds of terrains and roads, liked it. now high speed stability is excellent, but has a bit of body roll on high speed corner's, would I like to buy it again in 7 years time.... absolutely yes

It"s a white elephant (the first generation - I don"t know about the latest model) however, it was The Best choice when I bought it and everyone in my family was happy to be driven in the car. I"ve taken it to hills and also drove from Delhi to Ahmedabad and the car is awesome. It"s just that it digs a "Big Hole" in your pocket

We have an old skoda Octavia 2 liter supercharger which give you low mileage. It’s an petrol car we use it for almost 10years. I never get comfortable in another car ever like this. Drove this from Delhi to Chennai in one night one day without major break next day went to office without no tired.

Driving is legendary and best in class and the gearshift is so smooth, But the comfort is very poor for a back seat passenger and less service stations was a major issue and after four years its driving performance is deteriorating a bit

It"s an excellent car with great engine and gearbox! Though not ideal for daily city commutes, it"s a breeze on highways! If driven with care and regular maintenance, it should hold its own for years to come!

A car that’s at the end of its life cycle battles a rival that’s only just been launched in India after its global facelift. The winner should be obvious.

Sometimes it’s the senses that rule decisions. Picking a petrol automatic sedan for around Rs 20 lakh is one such occasion. So, which one would you pick?
