TVS XL100 Latest Updates

TVS has launched the XL100 BS6 in 3 variants: Comfort, Heavy Duty and Heavy Duty Special Edition. They are priced at Rs 44,614, Rs 43,044 and Rs 43,804 respectively (ex-showroom, Delhi). This makes the XL100 BS6 Rs 3,500 more expensive than the corresponding previous BS4 models.

XL100 Specifications

The 99.7cc single-cylinder air-cooled motor is now fuel-injected and produces a humble 4.4PS/6.5Nm, exactly the same as its BS4 counterpart. On the plus side, fuel-injection means that fuel efficiency has gone up by 15 per cent. The engine is mated to a single-speed gearbox via a centrifugal clutch, meaning that no rider input is required for the transmission. The underbone frame is suspended on a conventional telescopic fork and twin shock absorbers. The Heavy Duty variants feature slightly beefier shock absorbers more suited to carrying heavy loads, while the Comfort variant features a softer setup. Braking is handled by 110mm drum brakes at both ends along with CBS. On the BS6 versions, weight is up by 3kg to 88 and 89kg on the Comfort and Heavy Duty variants respectively.

XL100 Variants

The Heavy Duty variant is more rugged, with beefier rear shock absorbers and a stronger rear wheel. It also features twin seats and fork gaiters. It is priced at Rs 44,614.The Comfort variant has a more upmarket appearance with an LED DRL, a single-piece seat in a dual-tone colour scheme. It costs Rs 43,044.The Heavy Duty Special Edition features the same hardware as the Heavy Duty variant but with dual-tone seats and chrome inserts. This variant sells for Rs 43,804.

XL100 Design

The basic design of the XL100 has remained largely unchanged for multiple decades now, with the same rugged moped look soldiering on. The Heavy Duty variants feature a more utilitarian appearance with split seats and fork gaiters while the Comfort variant has a slightly more upmarket and commuter-ish look featuring a single seat in a dual-tone scheme.

XL100 Features

The features list for the XL100 BS6 includes an ISG silent starter, engine kill switch, USB charger and an LED DRL. To help it meet BS6 emission norms, the moped now also features fuel-injection, making it the most affordable fuel-injected two-wheeler available in India. A low fuel level warning light and check engine light are present on the cluster.

TVS XL100 Competitors

Being the only moped on sale in India the TVS XL100 has no direct competition. It goes up against affordable commuter motorcycles like the TVS Sport, Hero Splendor Plus and Bajaj CT100.

Editor's View of TVS XL100

  • Upside

Easy to run, easy to repair, frugal, great load carrying capacity

  • Downside

Small fuel tank, the motor can struggle on hilly regions

  • Our Verdict

The XL moped is what put TVS on the map all those years ago and it continues to be the most affordable petrol-powered two-wheeler even today. It’s rugged, dependable and fuss-free, but best suited to utilitarian roles.

Must Read Questions & Answers Before Buying XL100

Q. If I ride at 50 km per hour speed, and ride for about 130 km is it does too much for the engine? Every 40 km i got 5 min rest to the engine. - XL100?
  • The BS6 compliant model is powered by a 99.7cc fuel-injected single-cylinder air-cooled engine which makes 4.4PS and 6.5Nm. TVS XL100 is not suitable for such long rides. Moreover, if you want to go for it, and if you ride 50kmph for 40 km, 5 min rest is not sufficient enough. The engine takes time to get at a normal temperature. So, We would suggest you take the rest of around 10 min for every 20kms. Also, get it checked/serviced at the authorised service center before going for such rides. Check out authorised dealership details.
Q. How many kilometers will go after reserved in TVS XL100?
  • TVS XL 100 comes with a 4-litres tank and the exact amount of fuel left in car varies from car to car but the last fuel indicator bar starts blinking when there is around 1 litres fuel left in the tank. How long will it go depends on the mileage of the car and driving style.
  • @zigwheels Is TVSXL100 a car????
Q. TVS XL100 fuel needs oil or only fuel will be fine?
  • As TVS XL100 gets a fuel-injected 4-Stroke engine, you need not to add extra oil to the fuel.

This bike gives you good average and ground clearance. However, The two biggest problem with this vehicle are:1. No fuel meter for this issue this vehicle just sucks. 2. During rains there is problem of starting it,it needs to be kicked to start.
