The Honda Dio needs no introduction. Its sporty looks have been a hit amongst multiple generations of young riders, and it has been unrivalled for the longest time. The TVS Scooty Zest did have the popular Honda scooter in its sights, however, it never received the same reception as the Dio.
Now, Hero MotoCorp has made its intentions of rivalling the Dio clear with its Xoom 110. Here’s how this sporty Hero scooter stacks up against its two main rivals.

While the Hero Xoom 110 is the most powerful of the three, it is also the heaviest, which may hamper the overall riding experience. The Honda Dio is 4kg lighter than the Xoom 110, and that combined with its slightly better torque output may help provide a sportier riding experience. The TVS Scooty Zest weighs the least of the three, which also works in its favour.

The suspension hardware on all three scooters are quite similar. However, the Xoom 110 is the only scooter of the three to get a front disc brake as an option, and it also gets 12-inch wheels at both ends. The Xoom 110 also gets a chunkier rear tyre as an option on the ZX variant, which along with the 12-inchers would help improve the overall stability of the scooter.

At 109kg, the Xoom 110 becomes the heaviest 110cc scooter along with the TVS Jupiter. Considering the sporty scooter segment usually attracts a younger audience, the Honda Dio’s lower kerb weight, along with a slightly lower seat height may present a more accessible package. For shorter riders, the Scooty Zest’s 760mm seat height and 103kg kerb weight should bode much better.

Something that a youthful audience will closely see while choosing a 110cc sporty scooter is its features list. And here’s where the Xoom 110 comes into its element. It gets a swanky LED lighting system with cornering lights, along with a digital display with Bluetooth connectivity for call/SMS alerts.
That said, it misses out on features that provide convenience like a silent starter and an external fuel filler lid, unlike the Honda Dio. The TVS Scooty Zest disappoints on the features front, as it only comes with just an LED DRL and LED taillight.

The TVS Scooty Zest presents itself as a friendly and accessible package, however it misses out on a lot of features that its other two rivals offer. The Honda Dio and Hero Xoom 110 are priced around the same range, however the latter’s costs are currently introductory. The Honda Dio is an established name and has been around for over a decade. While it may not have swanky modern features, it offers a sense of trust and credibility.

The Xoom 110 on the other hand is loaded with a lot of features that Gen Z may find attractive, and it also offers a bigger rear wheel, disc brake and a wider rear tyre, for a slightly higher price than the Honda Dio. How the Hero Xoom 110 feels to ride on the road is something we have answered in our first ride review that you can check out here.
