The Pulsar brand completes 18 years of existence in 2020. We take a look at the ads that shaped its history over the years.

The Bajaj Pulsar is finally a grown adult. In its over 18 years of existence, the Pulsar has given us Indian enthusiasts a thrilling riding experience that was badly missing until then. It brought about that youthfulness that is associated with motorcycling, a departure from the ‘Fill-It-Shut-It-Forget-It’ type of motorcycles that were in abundance in the early 2000s. Bajaj also marketed the Pulsar motorcycles in a similarly upbeat manner. It has been 18 years of such creative ads and the Pune-based bike maker is back at it with its latest creation. The new campaign (you can check it out here) showcases a recently-licensed biker's attraction to the Pulsar. It is cool, young and quirky, which got us to reminisce the ads from the good ol' days. Here are our five favourite Bajaj Pulsar ads:

Bajaj Pulsar 220F DTS-i - I’m The Man

We loved this ad for the sheer ludacrity of the heist that was pulled, after which the robber zoomed off on the Pulsar 220. The tune of “I’m The Man” was so catchy Bajaj even offered it as a ringtone.

Bajaj Pulsar 200 DTS-i - Distinctly Ahead

Riding through the narrowest of streets, jumping over cars and roofs, parking the bike into a lift and finally pulling off a stoppie to allow an elderly lady to pass through, all of this tomfoolery was committed just to get past a traffic jam. That was the advert for the Pulsar 200.

The Pulsar was the flagbearer of stunt motorcycles in India. And it all ignited with this TVC, co-ordinated by stunting legend AC Farias. Performing tricks like the Christ, endos, 12 O’clocks and what nots, Farias’ team left viewers’ jaws flat on the floor.

Pulsar 180 - Definitely Male (It’s A Boy!)

Macho and muscular, that’s what Bajaj wanted to portray with the original Pulsar. What better way to announce it to the world other than by nurses proclaiming that it is a boy, just like you would upon the birth of a baby. Perhaps they went a little overboard with the squealing. However, that was the ad that made Indians sit up and take notice of the revelation that was the Pulsar.

Pulsar AS200 - Ride An Adventure

Imagine ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ but with the then-latest Pulsar, the AS200, starring instead of Hrithik Roshan and co. The advert wanted to bring out the adventure angle of the new Pulsar by having the bike jump past a crowd of festival goers.
