Updated Ninja 650 unveiled in Europe
Gets new Showa SFF-BP inverted fork and radial brakes
Same 649cc parallel-twin engine continues
Kawasaki has unveiled the updated 2027 Ninja 650 in Europe. While the middleweight sportbike continues with the same overall design and engine, Kawasaki has made some important changes to its suspension and braking hardware. These updates are aimed at improving the bike’s handling, cornering stability and braking feel.

The biggest change comes to the front suspension. Kawasaki has replaced the previous 41 mm conventional telescopic fork with a 37 mm Showa SFF-BP (Separate Function Fork – Big Piston) inverted fork. According to Kawasaki, this setup reduces damping pressure while offering better control and stability while entering corners. It should also provide a more planted feel under braking.

The rear suspension continues to use a preload-adjustable horizontal back-link monoshock. However, Kawasaki has revised its spring rates to work with the new front suspension. The braking setup has also received a significant upgrade. The previous axial-mount two-piston calipers have been replaced by radial-mount four-piston units. The new calipers work with round brake discs instead of the previous petal-type rotors. Kawasaki says this setup offers better feedback and more linear braking performance.

Other changes include a larger front fender, a revised layout for the 4.3-inch TFT display and updated smartphone connectivity. The latter now also includes navigation and voice-command functions. The seat height has also been reduced slightly from 790 mm to 785 mm, which should make the bike marginally easier to manage for shorter riders.

The 2027 Ninja 650 continues to use Kawasaki’s familiar 649cc parallel-twin engine. The overall styling also remains largely unchanged, including the graphics on the Lime Green version. In Europe, the motorcycle will be available in three colour options, including Lime Green, Metallic Flat Spark Black/Metallic Carbon Gray and Metallic Matte Graphenesteel Gray/Metallic Spark Black.
The 2027 Kawasaki Ninja 650 does not bring a major visual overhaul, but the suspension and braking upgrades are quite significant updates. The new fork and radial brakes should make it more capable when ridden aggressively, while the updated electronics and lower seat add to its everyday usability. That said, it could be launched in India soon, as the Ninja 650 is due for a 2027 update.
