BMW Motorrad has teased the upcoming F 450 RR sportbike. The third spawn of the BMW’s 450 platform will be a track-weapon, and the brand’s most affordable twin-cylinder sportbike.
The BMW F 450 RR will be based on the F 450 R, and get the same 420cc twin-cylinder engine. While the naked avatar makes about 47 PS at 8,750 rpm and 43 Nm at 6,750 rpm, we can expect a similar output from the faired bike.
In terms of design, the rear will be almost identical to the F 450 R, but the front will have a lot of bodywork. The headlight unit will also be different – can expect a twin-pod setup, similar to the one seen on the BMW Concept RR.

It also seems like the bike has aerodynamic winglets on the side panels. These could make the bike look quite sharp and track-focussed. And just like the 450 R, it too seems to have an underbelly exhaust. That said, it has clip-on handles, which will give aggressive ergonomics, as expected from a sportbike.
Hardware should be carried over from its naked sibling – adjustable suspension (depending on the variant), 17-inch wheels, 310 mm front disc, and 240 mm rear. Seat height could almost remain the same or close to 790 mm, and the tank at 14 litres. Though the kerb weight could go up marginally over the 175 kg of the R, because of the added bodywork.

Expect the F 450 RR to be armed to the teeth with features – riding modes, cornering ABS, cornering traction control, 6-inch TFT display, adjustable clutch and front brake levers, bidirectional quickshifter, the Easy Ride Clutch on top variant, and more.
BMW will globally unveil the bike on October 15, and it should come to India some time later next year, along with the F 450 R. We can expect it to be priced at a premium, but under the F 450 GS – currently the ADV is priced from Rs 4,95,000 (ex-showroom). Once launched, it will rival the Aprilia RS 457.
