Bajaj Pulsar 150 BS6 vs BS4: Differences Explained

Bajaj has officially launched the Pulsar 150 BS6 in India. The new motorcycle now commands a substantial premium of Rs 8,998 over the BS4 Pulsar 150 despite looking identical. The changes, in this case, are more than skin deep. We list down all the differences:

Fuel injection:

The addition of fuel injection has led to a change in engine tune. The Pulsar 150 BS6 offers the same 14PS but at 8500rpm -- 500rpm higher than the BS4 motorcycle. Torque though has dropped by 0.15Nm and arrives 500rpm higher in the rev range. It now stands at 13.25Nm at 6500rpm.

The addition of fuel injection, ECU, and catalytic convertor to keep emission levels in check has resulted in a 4kg weight increase over the BS4 Pulsar 150. It now weighs 148kg (kerb). Given the drop in torque output and the added weight, we can expect a slight drop in acceleration.

Pricing:

The new Pulsar 150 BS6 costs Rs 94,956, while the Pulsar 150 Twin Disc BS6 variant now retails for Rs 98,835 (both ex-showroom Delhi). That’s a premium of Rs 8,998 for both BS6 motorcycles over their respective counterparts. On paper, the extra premium sounds like a sour deal, especially when you consider that the bike receives no cosmetic or feature updates. However, we will reserve our judgement until we ride the new BS6 motorcycles to see if the addition of fuel injection has resulted in a more premium riding experience.
