Beyond updates on Tata and Mahindra SUVs, Toyota and Kia MPVs and other BYD and Volkswagen cars, major motor vehicle tax revisions from Maharashtra budget 2025 made headlines in the past week.

Hope you all had a vibrant Holi! Likewise, the past week leading up to this long weekend in India was indeed colourful for the automotive sector too. Some of our friends at Zigwheels enjoyed an upcoming Tata EV showcase while we had some official and unofficial feeding from the house of Mahindra, Kia and Volkswagen. 

Besides BYD screamed new updates for two of their cars while Tata Motors and Toyota rolled silently – not enough to be hidden from us. The key highlight was the Maharashtra Budget 2025-26 which had some surprising proposals for the auto industry, whether you like it or not. That said, here’s a rundown of all that was important to catch up.

Tata Harrier EV Showcased Yet Again

We’ve started this week on a Sunday, unlike the usual Monday blues that set in. Courtesy? Tata Motors invited us to their Pune facility to showcase their upcoming Harrier EV once again after the Auto Expo in January. But this time it wasn’t just a glimpse. Tata Sierra Spied And Production-spec Design Out

Just when one of our colleagues was rolling on the roads, a Tata Sierra test mule said hello! Covered in the typical camouflage, it swept by giving away some design hints for sure. We leave that for you to check here.

Mahindra BE 6 And XEV 9e Charger Policy Revised

Mahindra had mandated buying a charger from the brand along with their newest EVs, the BE 6 and XEV 9e. Available with a choice of two AC chargers which cost up to Rs 75,000 buyers had no choice but to pay for it. Well, the Indian conglomerate has amended the policy, albeit with some terms and conditions. You can know all of that in more detail here.

Toyota Innova Hycross Updated With A Safety Feature

Toyota has updated the Innova Hycross’s hybrid variants with a much-needed pedestrian safety feature called AVAS (Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System). This has been made standard across all variants of the MPV in its hybrid powertrain and in fact there’s no premium for this addition. As for the rest, the car stays unchanged. 2025 BYD Atto 3 Gets Updates

The BYD Atto 3, which happens to be the brand’s first electric SUV for India has now received a model-year update . 2025 BYD Seal Gets MY Updates

Besides the Atto 3, BYD Seal has also received a model year update which includes minor changes here and there and an important upgrade in its suspension. 2025 Tata Tiago NRG Launched

The Tata Tiago NRG has been updated silently by the carmaker. Yes, the change is subtle too with some rejigging in its variant lineup. In the past week, the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra has also announced the budget for 2025-26 which will be implemented from the new fiscal year. The new budget had plenty of proposals for the automotive industry, all of which collectively suggested an increase in taxes on cars for the greater interest of bundling up state revenue.
