One of the most impactful sports cars from Mercedes-Benz in the last decade was the AMG GT, which brought in good performance and a known design over the years. Now, to break the pattern, Mercedes has revealed its newest AMG product, which has not only changed its shape but also its powertrain!
The 2026 Mercedes-AMG GT now comes in an SUV avatar and goes all-electric. The AMG GT SUV packs in an insane amount of specs, which are just as insane as its design. So, let’s dive deep into the AMG world:
Talking of the AMG GT SUV’s design language, it takes a more conventional approach rather than a radical one that keeps it appealing for a variety of tastes.
Looking at the front, it has a unique look with swept-back LED headlights that have Y-shaped LED DRLs in them. At the center, the huge grille is blanked-off and gets illuminated slats and the three-pointed logo as well, which makes it distinctive. Lower down in the front bumper, it has sharp air intakes that resemble a shark’s gills, which also add a sporty touch to it.

Coming to its profile, it gets up to 23-inch alloy wheels, which even have AMG lettering on them, so you really know it's an AMG. It has a coupe-like silhouette towards the back, flush-fit electrically operated door handles, and an AMG badge on the front fender.

At the rear, it gets a set of retro--looking circular taillights, which have the Mercedes-Benz logo element in them; it has even adapted with the connected LED strip across the taillights, which makes the rear look unmistakable. Lower down on the bumper, it adds an aggressive-looking diffuser to aid aerodynamics.

Step inside the AMG GT SUV, and you are greeted to lots of sporty elements such as carbon-fibre inserts on thecenter console, a quilted pattern on the door pads, sporty seats, and a dashboard that is focused towards the driver.

The dashboard comes with a triple-screen setup, two of which are oriented towards the driver, which include a 14-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 12-inch digital driver’s display. The other is the optional co-passenger display, which is also a 14-inch unit. The cabin can be specced in multiple themes as per your requirements..

The AMG GT SUV also gets a set of sports seats with the AMG inserts on them, contrast seat belts for added character to the experience, and a varied range of electrical adjustments as well.
With a fascinating design, the AMG GT SUV also packs in modern features such as the triple-screen setup up front, with the latest MBUX technology that also includes the virtual assistant as well. For a thrilling experience, it even gets a Burmester 4D surround sound system, a photochromatic glass roof with ambient light, four-zone climate control, and even a crazyperformance manager feature that will optimise its power and torque outputs based on the track you are driving on!

Safety is another area where Mercedes-Benz shines, and the AMG GT SUV does too. It packs in a comprehensive ADAS package, multiple airbags, electronic stability program, optional ceramic disc brakes, and a surround-view 360-degree camera, which will be useful to haul such a huge SUV.
The Mercedes-AMG GT SUV is offered with two battery packs, of 106 kWh and 128 kWh sizes. The GT 53 is available only with the former option, whereas the GT 55 and GT 63 are available with the option of both.

While Mercedes-Benz has not confirmed the actual launch date, the AMG GT SUV is expected to arrive on Indian shores in the second half of 2027. We expect it to be priced around Rs 3 crore (ex-showroom) as this could be brought to India via the CBU (Completely Built-up Unit) route.
The AMG GT SUV will rival the Porsche Cayenne Electric, Lotus Eletre and the upcoming Range Rover Electric.
With every sports car brand now shifting towards bringing in an SUV and an electric vehicle to market, Mercedes-Benz has hopped on this trend with its flagship sports car, the AMG GT SUV, which continues the AMG legacy in a electric avatar with SUV format. The AMG GT SUV looks aggressive, nothing like in the market right now, and with the highlight being its rear look with the retro-style taillamps that don’t follow the connected taillamp trend in a way.
The performance offered with its 128 kWh battery pack on paper looks insane with torque available up to 2000 Nm for the GT 63 trim. Overall, this feels like a good sportscars to drive around the Indian roads.
