QJMotor, one of China’s leading brands and parent company of Benelli, has unveiled two brand-new bikes called the Race 250 and the Chase 700 at the 2021 edition of the Beijing Motor Show, one of the biggest Asian automotive events for bikemakers to showcase their arsenal.
The Race 250 is QJMotor’s latest quarter-litre sportsbike. The overall aesthetic of the Race 250 is pretty appealing, courtesy of elements like the 2021 BMW S 1000 RR-inspired fascia, muscular fuel tank, and sharp tail with aerodynamic spoilers.
This good-looking package is topped off by components like a TFT instrument cluster, a chunky USD fork, swanky alloys, and dual-channel ABS. It even gets a single-sided swingarm, uncommon on bikes in this segment. At the centre of all this lies a 249cc single-cylinder motor putting out 28PS and 22.5Nm, 3PS more than what the BS6 KTM RC 200 makes.
Next up is the Chase 700, QJMotor’s new mid-capacity naked bike serving as a more tractable and accessible option in the brand’s 600-700cc lineup. A new 700cc twin-cylinder motor churning out an impressive 76PS and 68Nm powers the Chase, making it 8PS more powerful than the BS6 Kawasaki Z650. Top notch components like a USD fork, twin disc brakes up front, and an LCD instrument cluster are also offered as standard.
QJMotor has priced the Race 250 at the equivalent of Rs 2.28 lakh, while the Chase 700 is priced at approximately Rs 4.6 lakh (converted from Chinese prices).
Will these come to India, you ask? Well, they very well could. Since QJMotor is Benelli’s parent company, it could re-badge these bikes as Benellis and introduce them in international markets, as it usually does. We’re particularly excited about the Race 250 as if it were to arrive in India under Rs 2.5 lakh, it would surely stir the pot in the sub-300cc sportsbike segment.
