Kawasaki has already launched half a dozen motorcycles in the country in 2017 and the bikemaker now seems to be ready with a cutthroat KTM RC390 and Yamaha R3 competitor. The former currently seems to be enjoying sweet success in its category thanks to its competitive price and the endless equipment list that it carries. The Ninja 400 was spotted in the USA during its commercial shoot, which indicates that Kawasaki would be launching the bike in America. Local news channels from Milwaukee reported that Kawasaki had shut down streets of the city for a TVC.
The bike gets design inputs from the bigger Ninja models, which lends the bike a fresh and grown up look. The current Ninja 400 is powered by a 399cc parallel-twin engine which produces 42PS @ 9500rpm and a peak torque of 37Nm @ 7500rpm, mated to a six-speed gearbox. We expect the new bike to carry the same figures. As seen in the pictures, the bike gets LED tail lamps, LED turn indicators, split seats, wider rear tyres and bigger windshield.
The Ninja 400s' competition has moved up by several levels now, and to position the bike competitively, we expect Kawasaki to incorporate electronic wizardy like slipper clutch, ride by wire and ABS, along with other electronic equipment like digital instrumental console, projector headlamps and LED DRLs. Kawasaki recently launched the updated model of the Ninja 300 in India, and whether the Ninja 400 will make it to India anytime soon is still under the mask.
Watch this space for more updates on the motorcycle.
