After unveiling the 502C earlier this month, Benelli has finally launched it in India. It’s based on the same engine platform as the Leoncino 500, but caters to a different segment.

What’s The Price? Who Are Its Rivals?

The brand’s first cruiser for the country has been priced at Rs 4.98 lakh. At this price point, it undercuts its main rival, the Kawasaki Vulcan S, which is priced at Rs 6.04 lakh. All prices ex-showroom.

Benelli’s First Modern Cruiser Is Here details

Design-wise, the Benelli 502C seems to have taken inspiration from the Ducati Diavel while retaining its originality. The sleek LED headlight unit will surely grab eyeballs. 

It’s powered by a BS6-compliant 500cc parallel-twin mill that makes 47.5PS at 8500rpm and 46Nm at 6000rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox linked to a chain-drive system. For reference, the internationally available Honda Rebel 500 makes 46.2PS and 43.3Nm from its 471cc motor.

Apart from all-LED illumination, the Benelli 502C also features a fully digital instrument cluster. The motor is housed inside a trellis frame suspended on a 41mm USD fork and a rear monoshock. The braking hardware on the Benelli cruiser comprises dual 280mm front discs held by radial callipers and a 240mm rear disc. Dual-channel ABS is standard.

Being touring-friendly, the 502C gets a large 21-litre fuel tank. The bike isn’t light on its feet, tipping the scales at 216kg ( total weight). However, with a seat height of 750mm, getting on and off the bike should be a breeze. 

It rolls on 17-inch alloys wrapped in a 120/70 front and a 160/60 rear Pirelli Angel GT Tyres.

Until Honda launches the Rebel 500 in India, the Benelli 502C will be the only modern cruiser available in the 500cc segment. However, if you want a slightly more budget-friendly middleweight, you can also check out the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650.
