It seems that Bajaj will have two versions of the upcoming Pulsar 250

[UPDATE: Bajaj has launched the Pulsar F250 and the N250 in India at Rs 1.40 lakh and Rs 1.38 lakh respectively. For more details on the specifications, availability and features, head to our launch story.]

In a recent interview, Bajaj Auto’s Rajiv Bajaj has revealed that the bikemaker will launch “the biggest Pulsar we (Bajaj) have ever made” on the 20th anniversary of the Pulsar brand in November. We had expected this launch to take place sooner but given the COVID-19 crisis, the launch of the new Pulsar family around the festive period makes good sense.

As we already knew, the Pulsar 250 would spawn multiple smaller-capacity Pulsars, which Bajaj also confirmed in the interview.

And it seems that there isn’t going to be just a single Pulsar 250. A group of Bajaj Pulsar 250s, both of the naked and half-faired variety, were spotted testing in the outskirts of Pune, Maharashtra. This suggests that Bajaj will be launching both variants -- the Pulsar 250 and Pulsar 250F -- simultaneously. The naked was spotted quite a few many moons ago, but we had not seen it on test ever since the faired one was snapped up, quite recently by us.

Even without the fairing, the naked Pulsar 250’s fascia seems quite edgy thanks to the xenon headlamp and sleek LED DRLs. The setup does have an uncanny resemblance to the Yamaha MT-15, though.

Compared to the current Pulsar lineup, the Pulsar 250 gets beefier tank shrouds, a sporty belly pan, a much shorter and premium-looking exhaust, a new tapered tail light, and split seats.

The USP, however, for the Pulsar 250 will be its new air-/oil-cooled 250cc motor. It is expected to make more power than the Pulsar 220Fbut whether it’ll be a substantial improvement is something we’ll have to wait to find out.

Apart from this, the Pulsar 250 will feature fairly conventional underpinnings, probably to keep costs in check. The braking setup and alloy wheels seem similar to the current-gen Pulsars while the beefier telescopic fork looks like the Pulsar NS200’s. The step-up here being the new monoshock at the rear.

When the “biggest” Pulsars finally set foot here in November, expect the Pulsar 250 and Pulsar 250F to be priced around Rs 1.18 lakh and Rs 1.25 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively, which seems quite justifiable.
