And it is priced lower than the top-spec trims of its rivals

After multiple teasers and spy shots, Simple Energy has finally launched the Simple One electric scooter. It’s the Bengaluru-based startup’s first EV and here’s what you need to know about it.

What’s The Price? Who Are Its Rivals?

The asking price for the Simple One is set to Rs 1,09,999 (ex-showroom Bengaluru). That makes it more affordable than the likes of the Ather 450X, Ola S1 Pro, and the Bajaj Chetak. Only the TVS iQube Electric and the Revolt RV 400 electric motorcycle are the better quality products which are a bit dearer than the Simple One.

What’s New?

The Simple One sports quite a minimalist and futuristic bodywork. You get LED illumination all around neatly integrated into the panels.

It’s powered by a 4.8kW motor paired with a 4.8kWh battery. The Simple One claims to offer a maximum range of 236km. For instance, the recently launched Ola S1 Pro claims to offer 181km. The above figure has been achieved by kitting the scooter with the 7kg removable battery pack.

The EV maker also claims that the One can sprint 0-40kmph in just 2.95 seconds, thereby making it the quickest electric scooter to go on sale in India, outdoing the Ola S1 Pro by 0.05 seconds. Of course, we will put these claims to the test once we get all the electric scooters at our HQ in Pune.

On the features front, you get a 7-inch instrument console. You can access navigation, phone calls, music, and even store documents. Not just that, the Simple One also gets OTA updates, geo-fencing, a tyre pressure monitoring system and vehicle tracking among others. Connectivity provisions include a 4G LTE sim and Bluetooth feature.

It features a tubular chassis supported by a telescopic fork and a monoshock. Meanwhile, the braking prowess comes from the 200mm front and a 190mm rear disc.

The Simple One rolls on 12-inch alloys and weighs 110kg. You get a large 30-litre boot space, that’s 6-litre less than the Ola electric scooter.

Apart from Bengaluru, Simple Energy aims to offer the Simple One in 13 more cities and the pre-booking has commenced with a token amount of Rs 1,947.

As for the charging infrastructure, the EV maker has launched its fast charger called the Simple Loop. 300 units of the Simple Loop will be deployed across 13 states in the country.
