Bajaj Auto has launched the all-new Pulsar 150 in India, giving one of its most recognisable motorcycles a major overhaul. Much like the recently updated Pulsar 125, the new Pulsar 150 is far more than a cosmetic refresh. Bajaj has reworked the motorcycle's styling, powertrain, chassis, suspension and equipment while retaining the unmistakable Pulsar silhouette.

The changes are substantial enough to make this one of the biggest updates the Pulsar 150 has received in recent years.

The new Pulsar 150 is offered in Drum and Disc variants, with prices starting at Rs 1 ,15,233 and going up to Rs 1,23,187 respectively (ex-showroom, Delhi)

Despite the extensive changes, Bajaj has retained the two-variant strategy, allowing buyers to choose between a more affordable version and a better-equipped Disc variant.

Familiar Pulsar, Sharper Suit

Although Bajaj has changed almost every major component, the new Pulsar 150 remains instantly recognisable. The overall silhouette continues to follow the classic Pulsar design language that we have all known for year.

The motorcycle now gets a sharper-looking headlight with LED DRLs, a more muscular fuel tank and redesigned tank extensions. The tail section has also been reworked and features a refreshed taillight design.

Bajaj is also offering the motorcycle in 5 colour options: Saffire Blue, Ebony Black Ink Blue,Ebony Black Magenta Red, Fury Red, Pearl Metalic White. While some shades have similarities with those seen on the previous model, the updated graphics and design details give them a fresher appearance.

Two Displays, More Connected Tech

One of the biggest upgrades on the new Pulsar 150 is the instrument console. The base variant gets a new colour LCD instrument console, while the higher-spec version is equipped with the same 5-inch TFT display seen on some of the newer Pulsar models.

Both displays offer smartphone connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation and call and SMS alerts. The larger TFT unit gets additional functionality, including music controls and document storage, allowing riders to save important documents such as their driving licence and registration certificate.

The feature list is rounded off by a USB Type-C charging port and hazard lights.

The new motorcycle also gets an all-LED lighting setup, further bringing the Pulsar 150 up-to-date with newer-generation motorcycles in the segment.

A Completely Different Foundation

Bajaj hasn't stopped at the cosmetic changes. The Pulsar 150 now gets a new frame, which has allowed the company to ditch the conventional twin-shock rear suspension setup. In its place is a monoshock. At the front, the Pulsar continues with a conventional telescopic fork.

Finally, A New Heart For The Pulsar 150

After years of carrying forward its older engine, Bajaj has finally developed an all-new 150cc air-cooled engine for the Pulsar 150. The new motor produces 14 PS at 8,500 rpm and 14.1 Nm (0.8 Nm more than the previous motor) and is paired with a 5-speed gearbox.

The motorcycle also gets a silent starter and an engine stop/start system. The latter automatically shuts the engine down when the motorcycle is stationary and restarts it when the clutch is pressed.

The new Pulsar 150 has received a more comprehensive update than its predecessor. Bajaj has not simply redesigned the bodywork; it has gone back to the drawing board with the engine, frame, rear suspension and electronics as well.

The Pulsar 150 now faces a competitive 150-160cc space populated by motorcycles such as the Honda Unicorn, TVS Apache RTR 160 2V, Hero Xtreme 160R and the Yamaha FZ-S Fi.
