Ampere has updated its family electric scooter lineup with the launch of the Nexus EX+, priced from Rs 1.30 lakh (ex-showroom). The latest version of the Ampere Nexus brings a more powerful motor, a higher-rated charger and a revised variant lineup. Buyers can also opt for the more feature-rich Nexus EX+ Intellipack, which costs Rs 1.36 lakh.
With the arrival of the EX+, Ampere has also revised the Nexus range. The electric scooter was previously sold in EX and ST variants, with differences in equipment, connected technology and instrumentation separating the two versions.

The company has now simplified the range, with the Nexus available only in EX+ and EX+ Intellipack variants. This makes the buying decision relatively straightforward, with customers essentially choosing between the standard scooter and the connected version.
The Nexus EX+ now uses a 5 kW mid-mounted electric motor, up from the 4 kW unit offered previously. Ampere claims the upgraded motor delivers 202 Nm of peak torque at the wheel and allows the scooter to accelerate from 0-40 kmph in a claimed 4.5 seconds. It has a claimed top speed of 93 kmph, which is quite decent for a family-orientated scooter.

Another addition is that of a new 750 W charger. It now carries an IP65 rating, meaning it has been designed to offer protection against dust and water.
This will be useful for owners who do not have access to a fully covered parking space or those who occasionally need to charge their scooter in open spaces. The faster charger also allows the scooter to charge from 20% to 80% in 2 hours.

The Nexus EX+ can be purchased with Ampere's Intellipack technology for an additional Rs 6,000. The system works through the Ampere Connect app and brings more than 30 connected features to the scooter.
These include turn-by-turn navigation, geofencing, call notifications, live location sharing, real-time charging information and a 'Find My Scooter' function.

The Nexus EX+ sits in the increasingly competitive India's family electric scooter market. It goes up against established and newer models such as the TVS iQube, Ather Konarc, Vida VX2 and the Bajaj Chetak.
