Quick Read:
4kg lighter than before
Gets more tech
Ducati has lifted the covers off the 2026 Monster, marking the fifth generation of the iconic naked bike that first appeared in 1992. The Monster’s recipe was always simple: light, sporty, fun, and accessible. Ducati has stayed true to that while adding a healthy dose of modern tech.

Styling remains unmistakably Monster: muscular, compact, and instantly recognisable. While the 2026 update looks similar to its predecessor, subtle tweaks like new side panels with Monster badging, a redesigned fuel tank, and vertically-stacked twin exhausts elevate the bike’s aggressive stance. The Monster comes in two variants: the Monster, and Monster Plus – the latter adding a flyscreen and passenger seat cowl. Both will be available in Ducati Red or Iceberg White.

The new 2026 Ducati Monster has the Ducati’s latest 890cc V2 motor with intake variable timing (IVT). Already seen in the Panigale V2, Streetfighter V2, and the Multistrada V2, the new powerplant produces 111PS at 9,000rpm and 91.1Nm at 7,250rpm (2Nm less than before), with over 80% of that torque available from 4,000rpm to 10,000rpm range. Ducati claims the Monster is easier to live with, thanks to valve clearance checks every 45,000km, the longest yet for a Monster.
The 2026 Monster continues to use the engine as a stressed member, bolted into an aluminium monocoque frame, complemented by a trellis subframe and a Panigale V4-inspired double-sided swingarm. The result is a 175kg weight (with all fluids but without fuel), making it 4kg lighter than the previous model.
Suspension duties are handled by Showa, featuring a 43mm upside-down fork and a preload-adjustable rear shock. It has Brembo M4.32 radial callipers,320mm front discs, and a 245mm rear disc, same as before.

On the tech front, the Monster gets all the shebang Ducatis are known for. A six-axis IMU allows for cornering ABS, traction control, wheelie control, and engine braking control. A new 5-inch TFT console with day/night modes is operated via a new petal-style joystick on the left switchgear. You get four riding modes (Sport, Road, Urban, Wet) to play with, a bidirectional quickshifter, cruise control, and Ducati Multimedia System compatibility for turn-by-turn navigation.
Other updates include a new, narrower seat (815mm seat height, 5mm less than before), optional lowering kits, and higher, more natural handlebars for improved ergonomics. It continues with the Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tyres. That said, it now comes with a traditional key ignition instead of a keyless fob, which some purists will appreciate.

With the 2026 Monster, Ducati seems to have evolved the Monster in the right direction. With a smoother, lighter, and cleaner V2 engine, it should provide an easier riding experience, and with all the latest electronic aids, Ducati has managed to future-proof its most-beloved naked without losing the charm that made it iconic.
It’s priced from EUR 11,995 (INR 14.01 lakh without taxes and duties), and the deliveries start in Europe from February 2026. It’s expected to come to India in mid-2026. It goes against the likes of the 2026 Kawasaki Z900 and the Triumph Street Triple 765 RS. Interestingly, the updated Kawasaki Z900 was recently launched in India.
