The details spotted in the spied photo suggest that the upcoming XPulse is based on the 440cc platform

Hero MotoCorp is working on a few new motorcycles, one of which was the Hero Mavrick that was spotted last week. And now, another Hero bike has been spotted testing alongside it and we think it is an XPulse based on the 440cc platform.

We can see from the pictures that the spotted bike gets a vertical catalytic convertor, similar to that of the Harley-Davidson X440. So Hero MotoCorp could be developing an XPulse based on the 440cc platform. Plus, it makes sense because the 440cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine is torquey (38Nm at 4,000rpm), which will make it very suitable for off-road riding with a few tweaks. It is also reasonably powerful (27PS at 6,000rpm) and can hold speeds of 120kmph on the highway quite comfortably, solving two of the biggest drawbacks of the XPulse 200 4V. And the 2-valve, SOHC setup of the engine will help Hero MotoCorp keep costs in check as it is not a very sophisticated engine like, say, the Hero Karizma XMR

Also, the spotted bike doesn’t look like the liquid-cooled XPulse 400 that we’ve been waiting for because it has been spotted alongside the Harley-Davidson X440 and the upcoming Hero Mavrick. So it reinforces the possibility that it is an XPulse based on the 440cc platform and Hero MotoCorp might have been benchmarking the bike. As for the bigger, liquid-cooled engine, Hero could even bring it with a 450cc engine to account for the market changes because of the several delays in the project. And given that its biggest competitor, the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 has a 452cc engine, it only makes sense for Hero to aim at the 450cc space too. Other rivals will include the 2025 KTM 390 Adventure.

So, the Hero XPulse based on the 440cc platform might be launched by early 2025 and could come at a price of around Rs 2.3 lakh (ex-showroom).
