The family-oriented EV scooter segment has never been more exciting

Simple Wave

Simple Energy has launched its first family-oriented electric scooter, called the Wave, in India. The scooter comes in 3 variants, and the prices start from Rs 1,09,999 (ex-showroom, Bengaluru). Unlike the brand’s sportier scooters like the Simple One and the One Ultra, the Wave takes a more conventional approach to styling and practicality. Here’s all you need to know about it:

Simple Wave: Price

The Simple Wave is launched at a starting price of Rs 1,09,999 (ex-showroom, Bengaluru)

A Simple Design

The Simple Wave marks a significant departure from the brand’s existing sporty scooters. While the One and Ultra feature sharp, aggressive styling, the Wave gets a curvier design that should appeal to a wider audience.

At the front, the scooter gets a horizontal LED headlight bar instead of the V-shaped unit seen on its sportier siblings. The front indicators are mounted on the handlebar cowl, while the rear indicators are integrated into the LED taillight strip.

Practicality seems to be a key focus here. The Wave gets a spacious-looking floorboard, along with a cubby hole on the apron and a pill type side storage pods on the side for added storage convenience. It gets the longest seat fitted to any indian scooter to date at 920mm, which should comfortably accommodate two adults. It gets a uniquely designed pillion grab rail, which should be easy to hold on to.

The Simple Wave is available in 6 colour options: Pearl White, Polar Blue, Forest Green, Coral Red, Twilight Black, Dolphin Grey

Battery & Motor Specs

Simple Energy has equipped the Wave with 4 battery pack options, offering a maximum IDC (Indian Driving Cycle) claimed range of 243 km. The electric motor is mid-mounted, and the scooter makes a peak output of 6.4 kW, with a top speed of 90 kmph and a 0-40 kmph acceleration time of 3.3 seconds.

ZigSays

The Simple Wave is an important product for the brand, as it takes Simple Energy into the family electric scooter space for the first time. Its conventional styling, spacious-looking floorboard and large seat make it considerably more approachable than the One and Ultra.

With a decent maximum claimed range and a pretty accessible price tag, the Wave makes a strong case for itself. The Wave goes up against the likes of the new Ather Konarc, Bajaj Chetak, Vida VX2 and TVS iQube.
