Jawa has launched the 2024 Jawa 42 bike in India, starting from Rs 1,72,942 (ex-showroom). The bike gets plenty of upgrades in terms of performance and comfort. It also gets six new colour options to choose from. This could be “The Answer” to the question of the most price-to-performance value packed in a retro roadster-style bike.

What’s New?

The 2024 Jawa 42 continues to be powered by the 294cc liquid-cooled J-Panther engine that makes 27.32 PS and 26.84 Nm, the components in the engine have been tweaked for better performance. The upgrade improves the power and torque delivery in the lower rpm range and also helps reduce the NVH levels(noise, vibration, and harshness) and reduce engine heating. It is equipped with a 6-speed gearbox with gear-based throttle mapping, which means from the 1st to 3rd gear the bike offers more performance in the low-range rpm levels and as you shift into the 4th gear it offers better top-end performance. It also has a slip & assist clutch providing smooth gear shifts and reduced vibrations. 

Although the bike has the same suspension setup as earlier, it has been re-tuned for compression and rebound damping. It also gets a new seat with thicker cushioning that adds to a more comfortable ride experience. These updates for 2024 will positively impact the riding experience of the Jawa 42. 

The bike also gets 6 new colours to choose from: Vega White, Voyager Red, Asteroid Grey, Odyssey Black, Nebula Blue, and Celestial Copper Matte.

How Many Variants Are There?

The 2024 Jawa 42 is available in 3 variants: 

• The top variant of the Jawa 42 features a fully digital instrument console, USB charging port,  dual-channel ABS and tubeless alloy wheels. Its price starts from Rs 1,95,142 (ex-showroom) and is available in a matte finish, with single-tone and dual-tone colour options. 

• Starting from  Rs 1,82,942 (ex-showroom), the mid variant is equipped with dual-channel ABS, spoke wheels wrapped with tubed tyres and an analogue instrument console with a digital inset. 

• The base variant misses out on dual-channel ABS to have a more accessible price point. However, it gets an analogue instrument console with a digital inset and spoke wheels with tubed tyres, and is priced at Rs 1,72,942 (ex-showroom).

What’s The Price? Who Are Its Rivals?

The 2024 Jawa 42 starts from Rs 1,72,942 (ex-showroom) which is Rs 16,200 cheaper than the previous version of the bike which was priced at Rs 1,89,142 (ex-showroom), the company is going all out with this one, with its aggressive pricing and a load of mechanical upgrades and addition of 6 new colours. This upgrade package will help the Jawa 42 make a strong case against the likes of the newly upgraded Royal Enfield Classic 350, Hero Mavrick 440, Harley Davidson X440, Honda H'ness CB350 and  Triumph Speed 400.

What’s Unchanged?

The Jawa 42 continues to have the older paint schemes along with the new attractive colours, a total of 14 colours to choose from! While having the ability to choose from a wide range of colours is good, it will be a tough decision to make. The braking department of the bike still relies on the 280mm disc at the front and a 240mm disc at the rear. While the base variant gets single-channel ABS the mid and the top variant is equipped with dual-channel ABS.
