Retro bikes have the natural flair to look good in colours that manufacturers don’t usually dare use on bikes belonging to other genres. Classic Legends’ Jawa has done exactly this with its most affordable Jawa bike, the Jawa 42. It’s now available in a new ‘Ivory’ colour scheme, and this pastel shade gives a fresh breath of life to the bike that hasn’t seen a major update in quite a while. It costs Rs 1,84,950 (ex-showroom New Delhi), positioning it a step below the costliest colour variants: Celestial Copper Matte, and Nebula Blue.

The headlight nacelle, fuel tank, side panels, and the front and rear fenders are all draped in a uniform ivory shade. This colour variant is based on the alloy wheel version with dual-channel ABS. Interestingly, this is the only colour variant that has the unique ‘Forty Two’ in cursive on the fuel tank, along with the number ‘42’ surrounded by laurel leaves on the side panels. Other than the colour scheme, the mechanicals are the same as the regular model. That means you get the sprightly 294cc liquid-cooled engine making 27.32PS and 26.84Nm to play with. Notable features include a slip-and-assist clutch, off-set digital instrument console, alloy wheels with tubeless tyres.

All in all, the ivory shade is quite well-done, and the brand also offers a 4-year/50,000km standard warranty that can be extended to up to 6 years, and up to 8 years of roadside assistance and up to 5 years of AMC (Annual Maintenance Contract) package valid nation-wide for complete peace of mind. The new colour variant is available at all authorised Jawa dealerships across the country. With the new shade, there are now as many as 15 colour schemes to choose from, some with different feature-set such as a single-channel ABS with spoke wheels, bar-end mirrors with a small flyscreen, and the likes. The Jawa 42 Ivory’s closest rival is the Royal Enfield Hunter 350. A more affordable smaller displacement liquid-cooled alternative is the Yamaha XSR 155.
