Ather Energy’s annual Community Day 2025 had no shortage of surprises. From radical concept scooters to practical product updates, the event gave us a glimpse of the brand’s future vision while also being grounded enough to reality with the announcement of a series of useful tech to its existing lineup. Here’s everything you need to know:
Project Redux Concept
Ather unveiled Project Redux, a concept scooter that focuses on lightweight construction and adaptive technology. It features a cast aluminium frame, 3D-printed lattice mesh seat and AmplyTex (an experimental composite material) body panels, and a true keyless system that eliminates even the need for a fob. The scooter’s ergonomics, suspension, and UI change dynamically depending on the rider’s posture and speed.

Other notable elements include a haptic throttle with pressure sensors, clip-on handlebars, adjustable suspension, and a Take-off (essentially launch control) mode designed to build power and alter ergonomics before launching. Redux also runs on slick tyres and gets a brass chain. That said, Ather has not indicated any production timeline for the scooter and is unlikely to launch anytime soon. If it does, it’ll be more of a premium technology showcase for niche enthusiasts with deep pockets, just like the TVS X electric scooter.
EL 01 Concept and EL Platform
The company also revealed the EL 01 Concept, which previews its upcoming EL platform. Unlike Redux, this concept is likely to reach production as early as next year, with a possible starting price of just a shade under Rs 1 lakh.
The EL platform will spawn multiple products, also they will carry the same frame, motor, and wiring while redesigning other components. It will underpin multiple scooters, including a maxi-scooter (5kWh battery, larger 14-inch wheels, extended subframe), a compact city scooter (starting with 2kWh battery), and a commuter scooter, which is the EL 01 Concept (plush suspension, EBS - Electronic Braking System, large 14-inch wheels). EBS is a step above CBS, and heavily relies on regenerative motor-based braking in addition to physical brakes.

The platform will debut new tech such as a Charge Drive controller that converts AC to DC and vice versa. It’s a unified component that works for both the motor and for charging, eliminating the need for unwieldy charging bricks. With this, all you have to carry is the charging cable, thus saving a lot of underseat storage. The new unibody steel frame construction ensures minimal complex components, that will not only reduce costs but will also hasten the manufacturing process. The new platform also allows shared components, which in turn promises longer service intervals (from 5,000km to 10,000km), making servicing easier and faster.
Updates to Current Models and Ecosystem
Alongside the concepts, Ather announced updates for existing products:
-
Rizta Z touchscreen upgrade:
The Rizta Z now comes with a touch-enabled TFT console, making navigation and controls more intuitive. Importantly, Ather has confirmed that older Rizta Z models will also receive this update through backwards compatibility, ensuring early adopters don’t miss out on the new tech.
-
New fast charger with inbuilt tyre inflator:
Ather also introduced a new-generation 6kW fast charger that also has a nifty tyre inflator. It’s claimed to add 30km of “true range” in just 10 minutes. Not going to lie, we found it hard to believe but Ather actually showed it in real-time in their presentation.

-
Apex Infinite Cruise Control:
The flagship Ather Apex gains Infinite Cruise Control, which works right from 10kmph. This feature takes the load off the rider’s hand on the throttle in both city traffic and on open roads. The cruise control doesn't need to be set again after braking or accelerating, as the scooter will automatically adapt to the current speed, be it in the city, going up or down a slope, or on bad off-road patches.
Cruise control in its simple form is practically useless on crowded Indian roads, so with this smart tech, Ather intends to make it a lot more usable. That said, the biggest caveat (at least for now) is that it is exclusive to the Ather 450 Apex (both new and ones sold in 2025).
-
AtherStack 7.0 software update:
The latest version of Ather’s software platform, AtherStack 7.0, is now live with a host of features. These include voice assist for hands-free control, pothole alert, which will notify the potholes in your way, and crash alerts (notification sent to loved ones in case of a major crash). New security layers include Park Safe (will tell you whether it's safe to park in a particular location or not) and LockSafe (one can lock the scooter from the phone). Riders can also remotely control functions through the app, and the dashboard can now display live cricket scores while stationary too. With these features, Ather aims to make the riding experience even more intuitive, fuss-free and more convenient.
-
Second Generation Ather Halo Helmets Launched:
The second-generation Halo Helmet has been launched. Ather claims to have reduced weight, new colours have been introduced, it now gets emergency pullout padding, USB-C charging instead of wireless charging, and a Pinlock-enabled visor. Prices have also been reduced and are now from Rs 2,999 to Rs 4,999 (Down from Rs 6,498 and Rs 9,999, respectively).

Parting Thoughts
Ather’s Community Day 2025 was more than just a product showcase. With Project Redux pointing to what the future could look like, the EL platform laying the groundwork for upcoming products and key updates improving the current lineup, Ather seems intent on staying ahead in India’s fast-evolving EV space.
While all the practical features via the AtherStack 7.0 update are extremely well-thought out, we’ll be able to shed more light on their usefulness once we get to test the new features. Also, a lot of the features including onboard navigation, live traffic view, theft and tow alerts are part of Ather Connect subscription plan that’s chargeable on monthly or yearly basis. We reckon a lot of the newly-announced features will also be a part of the subscription fee, so you’ll just have to be wary of these costs that will incur over and above the e-scooter’s price. But then again, considering the moolah you’ll be saving on fuel, this is a very small price to pay for convenience.
