Yamaha has launched the 2025 XSR125 and the XSR900 in Japan. The XSR125 now gets two brand-new colour options and a new low-seat height accessory meanwhile 2025 XSR900 gets a new TFT display and a lot of other updates.
The Yamaha XSR125 is a neo-retro styled motorcycle which gets round design elements in the form of an LED headlight, TFT display and an LED taillight. The bike gets a single-piece quilted seat which further adds to the retro appeal of the motorcycle. Yamaha has updated the 2025 XSR125 with two brand-new colour schemes: Sliver and Brown. The bike is now available in three colour schemes as the Black paint scheme is carried forward to the 2025 model.
Along with two new colour schemes, Yamaha has also launched an optional low seat accessory kit. IThe stock XSR125 has a seat height of 810mm. The low-seat kit reduces the seat height by 30mm to 780mm. Yamaha has managed to do that by reducing the thickness of the seat by 10mm and by lowering the rear suspension linkage which further reduces the seat height by 20mm.
Apart from these changes, the 2025 model remains the same as before and continues to be powered by a 15PS, 12Nm, 124cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine which isis paired to a 6-speed gearbox with a slip-and-assist clutch. It gets a telescopic fork and a monoshock, disc brakes at both ends with ABS. It has 17-inch alloy wheels. The bike has a 10-litre fuel tank capacity and weighs 137kg kerb. Yamaha claims that the XSR125 will return a mileage of 60.3kmpl.
The bike gets an LCD instrument cluster which is quite basic and does not support smartphone connectivity. The bike also gets an LED headlight, LED tail light and bulb-type indicators at both ends.
The Yamaha XSR900 is a neo-retro naked motorcycle with a unique design complemented by a golden-coloured fork, bar-end mirrors, a single-piece seat with a raised pillion section and funky colour schemes. The bike looks straight out of the Cyberpunk 2077 video game and will grab attention like no other motorcycle.
The 2025 Yamaha XSR900 has been launched in Japan it receives many changes in the form of a new TFT display which supports smartphone connectivity, a 6-axis IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) which allows for a host of features, KYB fully-adjustable rear suspension, revised handlebar shape, a new seat with changed cushioning, new 4-way joystick and adjustable levers. Yamaha has also launched a new special Ivory colour scheme which can be purchased for a limited time only and is exclusive to Japan.
The bike continues to be powered by an 888cc three-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine which makes 120PS and 93Nm, and is paired to a 6-speed gearbox with a bidirectional quickshifter. The bike now gets fully-adjustable suspension at both ends, dual-disc brakes at the front and a single disc brake at the rear, mounted on 17-inch alloy wheels at both ends.
The XSR900 now gets a TFT display which supports smartphone connectivity via Yamaha’s Y-connect application which allows for call & SMS alerts, turn-by-turn navigation, and ride telemetry data. The bike now gets four riding modes: Rain, Street, Sport and Custom. One can change the power output, ABS & traction control intervention levels and much more in the Custom ride mode. Other features include slide control, wheelie control, cruise control, speed limiter, all-LED lighting and a USB-C charging port.
Both the XSR models are quite desirable and we really wish Yamaha brought them here. But in all likelihood, that will just remain a wish. Yamaha did display other bikes such as the Lander 250 and the Tenere 700 at the Bharat Mobility Expo, and these are some models which we can expect to be on sale in India soon.
