With gold coloured spoke wheels the just launched 2025 UK-spec XSR 125 is as retro as it gets!

Quick Highlights:

  • Yamaha has launched the 2025 XSR125 in the UK

  • Legacy Edition has been launched as well

  • Unlikely to launch in India anytime soon

Yamaha’s lineup in the UK will make every Indian enthusiast go ‘blue’ with envy. Its latest motorcycle, the 2025 XSR125, has been updated to comply with the Euro 5+ emission norms and also comes with a special ‘Legacy’ edition, which is sure to make your mouth water.

While the motorcycle remains unchanged from its predecessor and continues to make 14PS and 11Nm, the Legacy Edition is something which one would look up to. And boy-oh-boy does the bike look smashing! Over the standard XSR125, the Legacy Edition gets a brand-new exclusive silver paint scheme, which will remind you of the 70s era. Other changes include the addition of spoke wheels with gold-coloured rims, Metzeler Karoo block pattern tyres and a new 3D logo on the tank.

On the other hand, the standard motorcycle comes with alloy wheels. The Legend White and Lunar Grey are new for 2025, and they both get blacked out alloys whereas the already-existing Yamaha Blue gets gold finished alloy wheels. All the colours in the standard variant get IRC Trail Winner block pattern tyres. The standard variant of the XSR125 will set you back £4,951 (around Rs 5.6 lakh) while the Legacy edition has a price tag of  £5,351 (about Rs 6.01 lakh).

The Perfect Modern Yamaha RX100?

It’s no secret that Yamaha plans to revive the legendary RX100 moniker in India, but the motorcycle which we think that really deserves that badge should be the XSR155. The Yamaha XSR155 is the XSR125’s elder sibling, which is available in the Southeast-Asian markets. It shares the same engine as the Yamaha R15 V4 but in a different state of tune and has a neo-retro design. Summing up, the R15’s famed performance in an irresistible retro package that’s comfortable enough for a wide range of audience is exactly what the RX100’s legacy was about - affordable, accessible performance.

If Yamaha were to make a modern RX100, then we feel Yamaha should give the XSR155 a Legacy Edition makeover, complete with the golden spoke wheels and a black/silver paint job. That would fly off the counters like hot pakodas on a rainy evening.
