While KTM is readying the 2023 390 Duke, its Swedish sister company Husqvarna is prepping the launch of its more exotic version, the 2024 Svartpilen 401, in India. The bike has been spied for the second time, and the launch is expected to happen soon.

The test mule was likely spotted at Bajaj’s Chakan plant, as it is parked right next to Bajaj Boxer commuter. From the looks of it, the Svartpilen 401 looks almost production-ready, and shares a lot of components with the upcoming KTM 390 Duke.

While the upcoming 401 looks bigger than the current model, it still retains the minimalistic visual cues of the Svartpilen. Additionally, the bike gets an updated flatter handlebar with a new switchgear, so expect slightly revised ergonomics. The suspension is new and adjustable as well, similar to the upcoming 390 Duke. It now rolls on alloys instead of the spoke rims, wrapped in road-biased Metzeler tyres. All of these updates make it more of a roadster than a scrambler. Lastly, the grab rail at the rear looks rather gaudy and is an eye sore as compared to the overall aesthetic of the bike.

Powering the Husky will be the same engine as the upcoming 2023 KTM 390 Duke – a new 399cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder motor. Even the trellis frame, offset monoshock and the gullwing swingarm are taken from the Austrian naked.

At present, Husqvarna only had the 250s on offer in India, but that’s about to change now. We expect the 2024 Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 to debut in India by June 2024 and come with a price tag of Rs 3.25 lakh (ex-showroom). Following this, the Vitpilen 401 will also launch in India soon after. Once here, these bikes will go up against the upcoming Triumph-Bajaj Scrambler and Roadster – which will be unveiled in June 2023 – and the upcoming Royal Enfield Scram 450.
