This is the first time that the new Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 has been spied in India

KTM seems to have taken the duty to cure our Monday Blues – first with the leaked shot of the upcoming 390 Duke, and now with the exclusive video of the next generation Husqvarna Svartpilen 401. This is the first time KTM’s Swedish sibling has been spotted in India.

The bike was first spotted in Europe over a year ago, and now, this test mule appears to be very close to its production avatar. There is a clear visual overhaul, and now the bike looks a lot bigger than the current model. That is because the components are shared with the next generation KTM 390 Duke.

The video shows the offset monoshock and the gullwing swingarm, both borrowed from the Austrian naked. Even the trellis frame is likely to have been borrowed from the 390 Duke, due to which the subframe has been upgraded.

This new subframe appears to be longer than that of the current bike. The new split-seat setup looks spacious and with the new bigger pillion grab rail, it looks friendlier for two-up riding. There are some interesting updates to the retro-styled scrambler.

Firstly, Husqvarna has gone for an underbelly exhaust, replacing the side-mounted unit seen on the current-gen 401. But what’s even more interesting are the wheel setup and tyres – the 2024 Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 was spotted with wire-spoke rims shod with Pirelli Scorpion STR tyres.

As has been with every Husqvarna bike, the engine will be shared with the KTM 390 Duke. The new Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 is expected to have the same 399cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder unit that will debut on the new 390 Duke.

So far, Husqvarna has shied away from launching the 401 twins in India but that’s about to change now. The 2024 Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 is expected to grace the Indian shores by June 2024 and come with a price tag of Rs 3.25 lakh (ex-showroom). Of course, the Vitpilen 401 will join the scrambler soon. These Swedish bikes will go up primarily against the upcoming Triumph-Bajaj Scrambler and Roadster, which will debut in June 2023, and the upcoming Royal Enfield Scram 450.
