Seen near the Bajaj Plant in Pune, does this indicate a launch soon?

Here’s something that will get KTM fanboys psyched! The recently updated KTM 890 Adventure R has been spotted in India. Interestingly, it was spotted at a fuel station merely 16km away from the Bajaj Plant in Chakan.

Partially wrapped in packaging, and seen atop a pickup truck, it is clear that this bike has recently been imported, most likely by Bajaj, for R&D purpose. Also, considering that India Bike Week is less than two months away, KTM India might even put this bike on display, similar to what it did back in 2019.

The 890 Adventure R was launched overseas last month, and it takes styling cues from the KTM 450 Rally. As part of its visual updates, it gets redesigned bodywork with a new fairing, fuel tank and underbody cowling – all of which, KTM claims, improves aerodynamics and ergonomics. It also features a lower windshield, high front fender, single-piece seat, and engine protector.

The 890 Adventure R is powered by the same 889cc parallel twin mill as the 890 Duke, however the power figures are lower at 105PS and 100Nm. In comparison, the Triumph Tiger 900 produces 95.2PS and 87Nm. It is decked with a fully adjustable 48mm WP XPLOR upside down fork and WP XPLOR PDS monoshock. It rolls on 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wire-spoke rims wrapped in tubeless Continental TKC 80 rubber.

It features a five-inch colour TFT display with USB-C connectors along with turn-by-turn navigation, music control and incoming call alerts. The 890 Adventure R is also decked with electronic rider aids which include a next-gen Motorcycle Traction Control (MTC) unit that is paired to a 6D sensor and a Demo Mode which allows riders to test out all the tech during the first 1500km. The aids that can be tried out include the Offroad ABS, Cornering ABS and ride modes including Street, Rain, Off Road and Rally. At the end of that period, buyers can then decide which features they want to keep and pay a monthly subscription fee for them..

While the specs of the KTM 890 Adventure R is drool-worthy, spotting this bike near the Bajaj Manufacturing Plant gives us hope that it can be likely launched sometime next year. If it is launched, it would go up against the likes of the Triumph Tiger 900,  Ducati Multistrada V2 S and BMW F 850 GS Adventure.
