Here’s how the fastest electric bike in India fare against the 300cc ICE bikes

To end our hunger for an Indian bred electric bike, Ultraviolette has finally launched the F77. Its performance can compete with ICE alternatives like the KTM RC 390, BMW G 310 R and TVS Apache RR 310. Here’s how all four sporty bikes perform against each other.

When it comes to performance you wouldn’t really compare an ICE with an EV because of the varying power delivery methods. But say for the matter that you do, just for the heck of it, what would you check first – top speed?

So well, in terms of top speed, the below-given figures are what the company claims.

KTM RC 390

BMW G 310 R

TVS Apache RR 310

Top speed

147kmph (claimed)

NA

143kmph (claimed)

160kmph (claimed)

It's pretty evident that the Ultraviolette F77 can keep up with the powerful petrol-powered siblings when it comes to the top speed. And yes, it is also the fast electric motorcycle in India.

8.18s

7.31s

While the Ultraviolette F77’s acceleration figures are claimed, the figures of the other bikes are tested by the ZIgWheels crew. And by what can be seen above, the F77 is quick, no doubt, but sadly not the quickest of the lot. The heavy 197 kg kerb weight of the F77 definitely has a part to play in its relative tardiness, even though the motor produces a peak torque of 95Nm right from get go.

Now, it is quite evident that the F77 does not have the longest range amongst its peers. However, it will be the most cost-effective because of what’s electricity charges as compared to fuel, am I right?

However, this is offset by the high initial expenditure, which is the price. The Ultraviolette Recon costs Rs 4,55,000 (ex-showroom), and is not even eligible for FAME II subsidy. On the other hand, the KTM RC 390 costs Rs 3,16,070, TVS Apache RR 310 bears a price tag of Rs 2,65,000 and the BMW G 310 R is priced at 2,75,000 (all ex-showroom Delhi).

Summing up, the claimed figures of the Ultraviolette F77 do seem to be good enough to go up against well-established 300-400cc performance bikes. However, it does come at a huge asking price. But that isn't surprising considering the EV technology is still in its infancy, and in due course of time, the cost will eventually go down.

Stay tuned to ZigWheels for a detailed performance review of the Ultraviolette F77, as we will be riding it soon.
