Recently Asked User Questions
- If you are passionate about the power and thrill while driving a car then you should go for petrol 1.4 Ltr petrol which has Turbo changer which boosts the engine power when you need to throttle. But If, punchy engine is not your prime requirement then go for 1.5 Ltr petrol engine. Also pls note that the service cost of 1.4 ltr will be slightly more than 1.5 ltr engine due to turbo charger installed in it.
- As you know dct is dual clutch tx this enables extremly fast changing of gears. its a gdi ie exremely rich fuel mixture (because of turbo ) sprayed into the cumbustion chamber, there is no input manifold this enables better performance. gdi also have their draw back. over all its fun also in a sober mode driving its a king. some have clocked 15 to 17 average on high way of course.
- If you want the car to pull you back while extreme acceleration then you should go for 1.4 petrol turbo.1.5 petrol has a better mileage but you will not get that punch. I have personally bought 1.4 petrol Dct, it gives me abt 8-9kmpl in city but give me a thrill to drive.
- I own a 2021 Kia Seltos 1.4TGDI DCT model. In terms of performance it's one of the best I have driven. On open roads it can easily beat the likes of Innova, Fortuner and all big guys with its sheer speed and Dual clutch just makes you zoom past other cars while they figure to get the car in right gear. Power is in its dual clutch and turbo engine. The Dual clutch is the best, it's like someone is choosing the right gear for you constantly. Features wise one of the best and the 360 camera quality is on par with high end cars. I have not driven the diesel automatic on highway but it will not be as quick as the 1.4TGDI especially with torque converter. If you enjoy driving a good car this is the best you can get, the top end petrol variant. Mileage average I got is 13kmpl with half aggressive highway and half on eco mode in city combined. I will take that anyday with the performance the car is giving. I went for top end petrol because of its performance and dual clutch which I know is drivers best friend. I didn't choose diesel because the same engine is being offered from base variant of Sonet and all the way upto top end Seltos. There is no value for money in the top variant for diesel. You can get the same engine for much less cost.
- Value for money buys1) basic variants HTE, both petrol & Diesel.2) mid variants HTK plus both petrol & Diesel.3) top variants HTX both petrol & Diesel.4) The top most variants HTX plus & GTX plus, both petrol & Diesel are the best, but not value for money.
- Agreed all are in one or another single value for money even the highest model don't cross luxury limit to pay the tax for it watch out for long term review luster gone in many Chinese parts and the Corona the future of Kia???
- 1) Diesel will have slightly more maintenance costs than petrol version, however this is offset by distance travelled over 15,000 km per year, AC usage, full load of passengers looking, luggage etc.2) However maintenance & servicing of DCT is expensive, because of the Nature of the components, high cost of spares, replacement, consumables of the DCT.3) Further DCT is a premium version & Naturally servicing & spares will be substantially higher, when compared to other versions.4) DCT variant is for premium segment, those who are willing to spend money for luxury, sporty feel, high power output. Those looking for economy should avoid DCT & gofor petrol or diesel. Also kia makes maximum margin on the DCT variant. 5) That said, I emphasize that DCT variant servicing & maintenance will be substantially higher, but it will not cost a bomb, like Audi, Skoda, Mercedes etc so test drive a DCT & if you love it, go for it, without regrets.
- 1) if you drive more than 15, 000 to 20,000 km per year go for the diesel.2) if your driving kilometers is less than 15000 per year go for the petrol.3) if you are addicted to the torque of diesel, get the diesel variant, irrespective of annual kilometers covered.4) if you are a connoisseur, to get maximum pleasure of driving & not bothered about the mileage or maintenance costs, go for the DCT ( 7 speed Dual clutch transmission) in Turbo petrol.Special Remarks, Assimilate the art of driving a DCT from Google ( Theory) & grasp the gist of it, before you test drive a DCT.

After a lot of R&D finally got the Kia Seltos HTE Diesel. I must say, I do not regret my decision. It is an absolute delight to drive this baby. The power is more than adequate to skim through Bengaluru city traffic and out on the highway, you just put your feet down, Seltos does the remaining. Overtaking is never a problem even if you are at speeds over 120 KMPH. Overall a value for money package.

I booked the Kia seltos HTX BLACK COLOR even before it was launched, but I got the delivery only in Feb as the black color was not available as per the dealer. I booked the car for its looks, Interior and features it offered, however I am very satisfied with its drivability and responsiveness. I saw a huge bump in performance after my first service. Great Family SUV.
