TVS Motors is all set to begin Season 3 of its hugely popular adventure riding programme, Himalayan High, on September 1, 2017. In its third season, the event will see 12 participants – ten women and two men – ride from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh to Khardung La in Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir, astride the TVS Zest 110. The names of the shortlisted riders have been announced and they’re currently undergoing rigorous training under the tutelage of TVS Racing riders.
In its first season, the Himalayan High saw India’s youngest and most accomplished female stunter, Anam Hashim, scale the world’s highest motorable pass solo on the TVS Zest 110. This daring feat earned the scooter a place in the India Book of Records for “The first 110cc scooter to scale Khardung La.”
The following year, TVS Motors responded to popular feedback and opened up entries to all women but, surprisingly, saw entries from both the sexes. Of these, eleven women undertook the arduous yet exciting trip of a lifetime, riding the Zest 110 to the same icy summit. Again, the Himalayan High entered the ‘India Book of Records,’ this time for being “The first group of women riders to conquer Khardung La on a 110cc scooter.”

TVS Motors reports that it saw almost a lakh entries this year for Season 3, buoyed no doubt by its catchy social media campaigns for the Himalayan High. The final 12 shortlisted riders have all been carefully trained to bring their fitness levels and riding skills up to date, for they will be facing not just the rigors of riding a 110cc scooter for such a long distance, but the acute mountain climate as well.
Team ZigWheels will be a part of the final leg of this exciting journey, joining the TVS team from Leh for the climb to Khardung La. Follow us on our social media channels as we can’t wait to share what we experienced on this exciting adventure up in the clouds as soon as we are back.
