Skoda has unveiled the updated the Slavia mid-size sedan for 2026. The facelift brings refreshed styling, a revised feature list, and a mechanical change to the smaller turbo-petrol engine. We expect the final prices of the Slavia to be announced by next month.
The Slavia brings segment-first features like massage seats to the compact sedan segment and a brand new gearbox. Should you upgrade from your old sedan or buy this over an SUV?
Quick read:
Volkswagen has paired the 1.0-litre TSI engine with a new 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
Revised bumpers and new LED headlamps arrive alongside fresh alloy wheel designs.
Under the bonnet, the 1.5-litre TSI keeps its 7-speed DSG automatic. The Monte Carlo edition stays in the lineup.
The 2026 Skoda Slavia is among the more sophisticated-looking sedans compared to the other sedans in the segment. While the Volkswagen Virtus takes a sporty boy-racer approach to styling, this is for the more mature and grown-up person.

Up front, the smoked LED projector headlamps sitting on either side get a small design update being the dotted DRL design. While the majority of the fascia is identical to the outgoing model, the bumper is new and has a classier approach this time. The slim chrome strip running across the width of the bumper adds to the classiness of the Czech sedan and matches the connected LED DRL. Do note that the Slavia now gets LED fog lamps, which is an upgrade over the halogen setup in the outgoing model.

The side profile is almost identical to the outgoing model. You’d be hard-pressed to tell the old and the new Slavia apart. However, the main giveaway is the new design of the 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. Compared to the outgoing model, these 5-spoke wheels look richer. The ‘Skoda’ badging on the front wings remin the same. While the Monte Carlo variant gets ‘Monte Carlo’ written on it harking to Skoda’s rally heritage. The typical sedan silhouette of the Slavia remains. The typical German touches like the sharp character lines running across the length of the car and the swooped rear quarter give it a sporty presence.

Moving to the rear end, the Slavia largely carries on the same rear profile to the outgoing model. However, there are some key new touches introduced here. The new plaque with the ‘Skoda’ branding sitting prominently on the centre of the bootlid now connects the tailmlamps. Like on the front, the tail lamps are almost identical to the outgoing model but for the dotted effect on the LED strip. The subtly integrated rear lip spoiler is also a neat touch which is available on the Monet Carlo variant. Apart from these updates, the Slavia carries the same design qualities which is a strong point of the Slavia.

The Slavia for the 2026 model year onwards gets a whopping 10 colour options. The new colour options are Artic Silver and Cappucino Beige. However, the following colours are carried over: Shimla Green, Steel Grey, Brilliant Silver, Candy White, Carbon Steel, Cherry Red, Deep Black, Lava Blue and Cappuccino Beige. Monte Carlo variants get dual-tone options, each with a contrasting black roof.
Inside, the facelifted Slavia keeps its layered dashboard layout and dual-tone beige-black cabin theme. Cabin space is also unchanged. However, one distinguishable feature is the bigger digital driver’s display. Apart from that, the interior experience is familiar to the Slavia we know from before.

The overall cabin gives an airy feel thanks to the light beige interior and the actual amount of space inside. The rear seats are also have good bolstering; however, it is not wide enough to seat 3 fully grown adults. The highlight here is the addition of a rear backrest massage function. The Slavia, however, does not get window sunshades, but are available as accessories by the dealer.
The Slavia facelift gets a few feature additions this year. They include a new fully digital 10.25-inch driver’s display and an updated UI with AI assistant integration for the 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. This also includes wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The Slavia also gets 6-way adjustable and ventilated front seats.

Other features include connected car technology, auto climate control, single-pane sunroof, and auto headlamps.

New safety features include front parking sensors and a new 360-degree camera. Meanwhile, other safety features like ABS with EBD, six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), ISOFIX child seat mounts, and traction control (TC). Also note that the Slavia has scored 5 stars in the Global NCAP safety rating.
Skoda keeps both turbo-petrol engines for the Slavia facelift. Most of the change is in the gearbox options. The 1.0-litre turbo-petrol now gets a new 8-speed torque converter automatic alongside the 6-speed manual. Up top, the 1.5-litre is paired exclusively with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

Powertrain specifications are as follows:

Among mid-size sedans, the 2026 Skoda Slavia competes with the tech-laden Hyundai Verna, to the simple yet enthusiast friendly Honda City. Meanwhile, the Volkswagen Virtus shares its platform and targets the same buyers.
With the unveil of the Slavia facelift and the soon-to-arrive facelift of the Volkswagen Virtus, the whole compact sedan segment gets updated. Among the SUV dominated market, this gives the sedan enthusiasts some hope and decent options to choose from.

A few of the strengths of the Slavia over the rivals is the availability of a factory-fitted 360-degree camera, rear-seat massage and a generous amount of ground clearance. The addition of the new 8-speed gearbox will make it versatile for both city and highway usage.
