Skoda has finally taken wraps off the much-awaited Kushaq facelift which gets comprehensive updates and revisions inside and out, and even under the hood! Here is all you need to know about it:
Starting off from the cosmetic changes in the facelift, we now see a more modern design with reworked styling elements. It gets a new front fascia with a revised bumper with a sharper profile and new fog lamp cluster. On top, the headlamps get slimmer with a new DRL signature which merges into a connected light bar. You also see a larger ‘butterfly’ grille finished in gloss black.

Towards the side, we see a new design for the 17-inch alloy wheels, while the rest of the profile remains similar to the outgoing model with a sharp beltline crease and thick cladding. It also retains the silver roof rails which play a major role in improving itsroad presence.

At the rear, we see that it now gets an all-new connected LED taillamp cluster with sequential turn indicators and an illuminated ‘Skoda’ badge. The rear bumper has also seen a revision and now features a more layered look, while still being draped in thick cladding.

Notably, Skoda has also updated the colour palette and the Kushaq will now be offered with 3 new colours- Shimla Green, Cherry Red and Steel Grey in addition to 5 existing colours, which include Candy White, Carbon Steel, Brilliant Silver, Lava Blue and Deep Blue.
If you have been inside the pre-facelift Kushaq, the interior of the facelift will feel almost identical, with the layered dashboard layout and a two-spoke steering wheel. However, it now gets a new digital instrument cluster and an updated user interface for the infotainment system for a slight improvement in the cabin feel. Notably, you also get to see a new black-beige upholstery colour scheme, with the Monte Carlo variant coming finished in a black-red combo.

That said, the biggest change inside is the addition of a panoramic sunroof which makes the cabin feel brighter and airier, especially for rear seat occupants.

Equipment-wise, the new Kushaq gets features such as a panoramic sunroof, rear massaging seats, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, 6-way powered and ventilated front seats, 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with AI assistant, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, rain-sensing wipers and auto headlamps.

Safety-wise it is equipped with 6 airbags, electronic stability control, all-wheel disc brakes, hill hold assist, rear view camera, tyre pressure monitoring system and front and rear parking sensors. Skoda has also announced that the facelifted Kushaq scored an impressive 5-star safety rating in the Global NCAP crash tests.

Under the hood, the new Kushaq gets powered by the same 1-litre and 1.5-litre TSI turbo-petrol engines as before. The 1-litre motor can be had with a 6-speed manual transmission, or a brand-new 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission which replaces the 6-speed unit on the outgoing car.

The 1.5-litre turbo-petrol on the other hand can be had with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission only. Here are the detailed specifications the new Kushaq:

1-litre turbo-petrol TSI |
1.5-litre turbo-petrol TSI |

While Skoda is yet to declare prices for the new Kushaq, expect it to be priced in the range of Rs 11 lakh to Rs 19 lakh (ex-showroom). It is offered in a choice of 5 variants called Classic+, Signature, Sportline, Prestige and Monte Carlo.

The new Kushaq will compete in the hotly-contested compact SUV segment which also includes cars such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Tata Sierra and Curvv, Maruti Grand Vitara and Victoris, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Citroen Aircross and the upcoming Renault Duster.
Almost half a decade since launch, the Kushaq had started to feel a bit dated. And this new facelift brings some excitement and freshness to the package. That said, we feel Skoda could have added a few more features such as an ADAS suite, 360 degree camera and electronic parking brake with auto-hold which have become a norm for the segment and help uplift the premium quotient.
