Honda Europe has recently showcased some of the best dealer-made modified bikes virtually, and here are our top three favourites

Honda Europe has virtually unveiled ten dealership-commissioned, tastefully done custom Honda CB650R bikes. The motorcycles were created by several custom houses from France, Spain and Portugal. Honda’s Neo Sports Cafe design philosophy debuted on the CB650R. The minimalistic yet beautiful retro-modern design makes it one of the most gorgeous looking bikes in the middle-weight segment. Take a look at the top three of our most favourite ones:

‘Fenix’ by Mototrofa Honda, Portugal

This custom Honda CB650R easily stands apart from the rest thanks to its unique single-sided swingarm, which is in fact borrowed from the Honda VFR750F. The front wheel is from the CBR900RR FireBlade whereas the seat and the tail panels have been custom made. The sleek white, red and grey colour scheme is complemented by the ‘93’ numbering on the fuel tank, a nod to MotoGP champ Marc Marquez’s race number, and also a reference to the year in which the mod house was founded.

The handlebar has been replaced with a pair of more aggressive low-set clip-ons. While the engine appears to be stock, it has been enhanced with a neat-looking underbelly Akrapovic performance exhaust. The name ‘Fenix’ signifies Mototrofa’s rise from the ashes (like the mythical bird Phoenix) after the custom house had been burned down in an accidental fire in 2019.

‘Akira’ by Hakuba Motor, Spain

The folks from Hakuba Motor say, “If there is a word that defines our concept then it is kaizen.” The meaning of Kaizen (a Japanese word) is ‘to improve’, and Hakuba has done exactly that, but with minimalist flair. This single-seater cafe racer with its red colour scheme and exposed aluminium frame is reminiscent of the Hyosung Comet GT250, if you ask us.

The stock seat has been replaced with a custom carbon fibre unit with a Nubuck leather cover.For a sportier stance, Hakuba has swapped the stock handlebars with the one from the Honda CBR650R. The electronics have been moved to a custom compartment located under the seat for a cleaner look. The engine appears to be untouched save for the custom engraved casings, and more importantly, a titanium stubby exhaust system from Arrow.

'Hedicion' by Motor Sport, Spain

The passionate people at Motor Sport say, “Our CB650R Motorsport represents the transversal spirit of Honda, breaking the barrier that separates cars from motorcycles.” As a result, they have made this custom Honda CB650R as a homage to the legendary 1966 Brabham Honda BT18, a race car that was so good in its time that it won 11 consecutive Formula Two races!

So just like the car, the bike also gets a green colour scheme with neon yellow highlights. The nose cone and the seat cowl are custom carbon fibre units. The custom tail panel neatly houses the circular LED taillight, rounding off things at the rear. Additionally, the motorcycle also features a full titanium Akrapovic exhaust.

The ten motorcycles were initially planned to be unveiled at the Wheels & Waves festival in Biarritz, France from June 30 to July 4. However, the event was cancelled due to coronavirus concerns. Enthusiasts can vote for their favourite bikes on the Honda Customs website. Honda says the winning dealership will have the honour of being the creator of the best CB650R custom in Europe.
