Coronavirus Impact: Jawa Perak Deliveries Delayed

    While most major Indian bikemakers have halted production due to the coronavirus outbreak, Jawa seems to be hit differently. The ongoing global pandemic has hit Jawa’s supply chain hard leading to a shortage of parts. As a result, Jawa will not be able to commence deliveries of its Perak bobber in April. This disruption has also affected the production of Jawa BS6 and Forty Two BS6 and their scheduled delivery of March-April have been affected. Jawa will announce new delivery timelines once the situation is under control.

    Jawa Perak BS6 Deliveries Delayed Due To Coronavirus

    The supply chain issues started back in January, the time when China was gripped by the coronavirus epidemic. It has, however, worsened in the last three weeks as ports are being shut to contain the spread of the virus. Jawa indirectly depends on China for parts as their tier II suppliers source NIKASIL coating and small LCD displays inside the instrument consoles from the country. 

    The other issue was minimal inventory, which was exhausted quickly due to high demand once the parts stopped coming in. Owing to the outbreak, many suppliers have also halted production indefinitely.  

    Before the COVID-19 outbreak, Jawa’s Pithampur manufacturing facility was expected to produce up to 10,000 motorcycles per month, which would have reduced waiting times considerably.
