BMW Motorrad will set up its first official dealership in India at Mumbai. The new BMW Motorrad Mumbai dealership will be inaugurated on April 12, 2017. The showroom will be located in New Link Road, Andheri West. The German bikemaker has struggled to set up its dealership network in the Indian market. At the 2016 Auto Expo, BMW had announced that it will officially enter the Indian two-wheeler market and it has taken more than a year for the first BMW Motorrad showroom to commence operations.
Through our sources we have found out that only CBU bikes will be sold initially in India. BMW will most likely ride in the 1200GS, S1000RR, S1000R, S1000XR, R nineT and K 1600 GTL. The BMW bikes will be also priced lower than the current bikes as they will be sold officially, which will reduce the pricing. The big news, and something that will dishearten many bikers, is the fact that the BMW G 310 R and G 310 GS will not be launched in India in 2017. BMW Motorrad is trying its best to lower the pricing of the most affordable BMW motorcycles on sale currently as the Indian two-wheeler consumers are cost conscious. Apart from Mumbai, BMW will set up showrooms in Pune, Bangalore, Delhi, Hyderabad and Chennai in the near future.
