It’s the most powerful bike in its segment

  • The BS6-compliant Pulsar NS160 gets a significant price hike.
  • It doesn’t receive any styling updates.
  • No new features added to the bike either.
  • The Bajaj Pulsar NS160 has survived the BS6 axe. There were some speculations that Bajaj could discontinue the 160cc motorcycle as it hasn’t particularly done well with respect to sales, but the Pulsar NS160 has received a new lease of life. It is now priced at Rs 1,03,398 (ex-showroom), a steep price increment of Rs 9,203 over the BS4 Pulsar NS160.

Thankfully, the price hike hasn’t just made the new bike BS6-compliant as the power figure has also increased. The 160cc, fuel injected and air-cooled engine now pumps out 17.2PS, an increment of 1.7PS compared to the BS4 model. It continues to employ a 5-speed transmission.

There’s no difference on the cosmetic front either and we would have liked to see the Pulsar NS160 get updates such as an LED headlight like its rivals. While there are no styling updates, we must say that the Pulsar NS160 still looks good owing to its snazzy graphics. It’s the same story when it comes to underpinnings as well, but the new bike is 3kg heavier than its predecessor and wheelbase is up by 2mm.

The 2020 Bajaj Pulsar NS160 competes against the Suzuki GIxxer, TVS Apache RTR 160 4V and the Honda CB Hornet 160R (yet to get a BS6 update). While Bajaj has kind of justified the BS6 price hike by increasing the power output, we were expecting to see more features on the Pulsar NS160 to make it a more enticing option compared to its rivals.
